guard Tarik Hislop was named to the Preseason All-Conference second
team, while red-shirt junior guard Jasmine Gill received honorable

averaged 10.8 points per contest, while Newman compiled 5.6
rebounds per game last year.
All-Time Against the Dukes
Friday’s contest marks the first meeting between Quinnipiac
and James Madison.
2010-11 Standings
The Bobcats finished the 2010-11 season at 14-16 on the
year and 11-7 in the Northeast Conference to clinch the seventh
seed in the NEC Tournament. The Bobcats lost to No. 2 Monmouth,
55-36, in a semi-final game in their 11th consecutive
post-season appearance.
Three’s Company
Quinnipiac will be led by a trio of captains this season,
including seniors Kari Goodchild and Jacinda Dunbar and junior
Shelby Sferra.
Dunbar Will Be A Danger This Season
Senior forward Jacinda Dunbar returns after a stellar
campaign in 2010-11. Dunbar made 24 starts for the Bobcats as a
junior and ranked third on the team in points per game (9.7) and
rebounds per game (5.7). The 5-11 forward also posted a
team-leading 47 percent field-goal percentage last season.
Count On Kari
Senior Kari Goodchild returns for her second year with
the Bobcats. The 5-10 guard made 26 appearances and averaged a
team-high 30 minutes per game last year. The Van Horne, Iowa native
also ranked second on the team in field-goal percentage, shooting
41 percent from the floor. Goodchild, a 2010 transfer from Kirkwood
Community College, also compiled 8.3 points per game in her first
season with Quinnipiac.
Felicia Is Fierce On The Perimeter
The Bobcats also return red-shirt junior Felicia Barron,
who led Quinnipiac with 345 points, 118 assists and 63 steals last
season. Barron, a 5-7 guard from Springfield, Mass., also ranked
second in points per game (11.5). In addition, Barron led
Quinnipiac from behind the arc with a 34.6 three-point field goal
percentage as she made a team-leading 47 three-pointers during the
2010-11 season. She also received NEC Player of the Week honors and
was named Quinnipiac Female Athlete of the Month for
January.
Rookies Return
Quinnipiac returns sophomore forward Brittany McQuain
after she pulled down a team-high 7.3 boards per game last season.
McQuain, a 2011 All-Rookie honoree, was fourth on the team in
points per game (9.2) and was ranked second with 22 blocks. The
Independence, Mo. native was a two-time NEC Rookie of the Week
award winner. The 5-11 forward also led all Bobcats with seven
double-doubles in her freshman season.
Freshman Faces
In addition to eight returnees, the Bobcats also add
seven new faces to the program, including six freshmen. Quinnipiac
anticipates freshman guard Gillian “Boo” Abshire, a 5-8
Washington, DC native, to make an impact early in the season as the
team’s starting point guard. Jasmine Martin, a 5-9 guard,
comes to Quinnipiac after surpassing the 1,000 point mark in her
four-year career at Timber Creek. Freshman forward/center Samantha
Guastella will look to support the Bobcats’ efforts in the
front court.
