HAMDEN, Conn. – College Sports Madness has named junior guard Felicia Barron (Springfield, Mass.) the National Mid-Major Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced on Monday, Nov. 29. In addition, Barron was selected by the website as a Mid-Major Conference Player of the Week after leading Quinnipiac to the Saint Mary’s Concord Hilton Thanksgiving Classic.

Barron, who received Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament honors, turned in back-to-back game-high performances in both of Quinnipiac’s wins against Big Ten opponent, Minnesota, 64-62, and West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary’s, 69-67, over the weekend. The 5-7 guard registered a season-high 18 points against Minnesota and 17 points against Saint Mary’s. In addition to averaging 17.5 points per game, Barron also compiled a team-high 11 steals and five assists, while posting seven rebounds across 31 minutes.

The Massachusetts native shot a team-high 45.5 percent from behind the arc, scoring 5-of-10 three-pointers at the Thanksgiving tournament. She also finished 10-of-14 free throws, shooting 71.4 percent from the line.

Currently, Barron leads the Bobcats’ offensive efforts with a total of 76 points and 15.2 points per game. She also ranks first on the team in steals (26) and assists (20).

The Bobcats return to action when they host Massachusetts on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
