Brittany McQuain Named Choice Hotels NEC Rookie Of The Week
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University freshman women's basketball
forward Brittany
McQuain (Independence, Mo.) was selected as the
Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the
Week, for the second time this season, as announced by the
league office Tuesday. McQuain led the Bobcats as they went 1-1
against Fairleigh Dickinson and Monmouth last week.
The freshman forward picked up two double-doubles, compiling a
total of seven on the year, against Fairleigh Dickinson and
Monmouth. McQuain posted a team-high 13 boards and 13 points in the
Bobcats' 75-56 win against the Knights, while chipping in 15 points
and 10 rebounds in the team's 62-56 loss to the Hawks.
McQuain played a total of 64 minute in the Bobcats' last two
outings, averaging 14 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She also
tallied 10 assists. Currently, McQuain is ranked 10
th
amongst NEC leaders with 7.2 rebounds per game.
The freshman earned her first NEC weekly honor earlier in the
season on January 25, after leading Quinnipiac to its wins against
Mount St. Mary's and Wagner.
The seventh-seeded Bobcats travel to play the No. 2 ranked Monmouth
University in a NEC Tournament Quarterfinal contest on Saturday,
March 5 at 3 p.m. at the Multipurpose Athletic Center in West Long
Branch, N.J.
