Quinnipiac Women's Basketball Falls At Sacred Heart, 66-54
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -

Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) scored a team-high 16 points, but the
Quinnipiac University women's basketball team lost, 66-54, to
Sacred Heart on Monday evening. With the loss, the Bobcats drop to
12-13 and 9-5 in the Northeast Conference, while the Pioneers
improve to 15-10 and 9-5 in conference play.
In addition to her 16 points, the center added eight rebounds and
six blocks while juniors Jacinda
Dunbar (Edison, N.J.) and Kari
Goodchild (Van Horne, Iowa) each added 10 points. The Pioneers'
Kiley Evans posted a game-high 20 points, while Callan Taylor
recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The
Bobcats also collected a season-high 16 blocks.
Goodchild's three-pointer at the 15-minute mark gave the Bobcats
a 10-8 lead, which they would hold onto until SHU's Ericka Norman's
tied the game, 33-33, heading into the half. The Bobcats led by as
many as eight points in the first half, 27-19, with less than five
minutes to play. The Pioneers responded with a 7-1 run in the last
two minutes of the half, to come back and tie the game, 33-33, at
the break.
At 19:10 in the second stanza, Sacred Heart's Callan hit a
three-pointer to give the Pioneers the lead, 36-33. Felicia
Barron (Springfield, Mass.) answered with a three-pointer of
her own to tie the score at 36 points each. The Pioneers responded
with a 5-0 run and would keep the advantage for the remainder of
the game.
Sacred Heart's biggest lead of the game, 66-50, came with 1:32 left
in regulation. Quinnipiac's Brittany
McQuain (Independence, Mo.) and Kaminski combined for four
points from the free throw line as the game came to an end.
Quinnipiac returns to
action on Saturday, February 19 when it plays Central Connecticut
State at the Detrick Gym in New Britain, Conn. Tip-off is scheduled
for 1:00 p.m.
