Barron's Three-Pointer At The Buzzer Gives Women's Basketball 76-75 Win Against CCSU
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team won its fourth Northeast Conference game of the season against Central Connecticut State, 76-75, as sophomore Felicia Barron (Springfield, Mass.) scored a three-pointer at the buzzer. With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the NEC, while the Blue Devils fall to 7-9 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.

The Bobcats were led by senior Courtney Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.),
as she compiled a career-high 32 points in the contest. The center
also posted eight rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal. Also
scoring in double-figures for Quinnipiac, was Barron (11) and
freshman Brittany McQuain (12). Barron collected a team-high nine
rebounds and four assists, while McQuain added five rebounds, two
assists and a steal. Three Blue Devils scored in double-figures,
including Leanne Crockett (19), Kerrianne Dugan (13), and Justina
Udenze (13).
Overall, Quinnipiac shot 46.6 percent from the floor, 79.2 percent
from the line, and 30 percent from the three-point range. The
Bobcats pulled down 40 rebounds, while Central Connecticut posted
33 rebounds. Quinnipiac compiled an impressive 17 second-chance
points, as they put up 14 offensive rebounds in the contest.
After the Bobcats led, 7-5, in the first half, Central Connecticut
stayed ahead of the Bobcats for a 17-minute window, until Brittany
Hill (Mechanicsville, Va.) made a pair of free throws with 49
seconds left to play. Quinnipiac ended the half ahead by one point,
38-37, as the team went on an 11-0 run with 4:31 on the clock.
The Blue Devils recorded a 10-point lead, their biggest in the
game, as they led, 35-25, with 6:02 remaining in the first half.
Kaminski posted 19 points in the first half, while Crockett scored
nine points.
In the second half, the lead changed 12 times and the score was
tied six times. The Bobcats took their biggest lead of the game in
the second half, five points, as they led, 46-41, with 15:36
remaining in the match. Late in the game, the score was tied,
66-66, as Kari Goodchild (Van Horne, Iowa) finished a layup with
just over four minutes left to play.
After a jumper by Felicia Barron cut the deficit to 75-73 with 21
seconds remaining, the Blue Devils' Jessica Babe missed the front
end of a one-and-one. The Bobcats' Lailah Pratt (Palmyra, N.J.)
went up with the rebound, but Quinnipiac turned the ball back over
to Central Connecticut with 11 seconds left to play.
The Bobcats sent the Blue Devils' Crockett to the line with six
seconds on the clock, where she missed both shots. Off the second
miss, Barron pulled-down the rebound, ran down to the three-point
line, and hoisted up the game-winning basket as time expired. The
Bobcats earned its fifth win at home this season, as the game
ended, 76-75.
Quinnipiac will host Bryant on Monday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m. at
the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
