The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team will
play in the Hawk Classic, St. Joseph's annual tournament, at the
Michael J. Hagan Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. The Bobcats will face
Lafayette on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 4:00 p.m. and either St. Joseph's
or New Hampshire on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at a time to be
announced.

Lafayette
Lafayette is currently 5-6 this season. The Leopards won
their first game of the year against Bryant, 84-80, in overtime.
The team is 1-5 on the road as it lost to Long Island, 64-59,
Liberty, 64-52, Monmouth, 68-54, St. Bonaventure, 72-63, and
Princeton, 90-58, and beat Manhattan, 53-50. The Leopards defeated
St. Francis (N.Y.), 74-42, Fairleigh Dickinson, 51-37, and La
Salle, 60-51, while they lost to Fairfield, 52-39, at home. In its
most recent outing at Princeton, Lafayette was led by LaKeisha
Wright with 15 points, while Danielle Fiacco pulled down eight
rebounds. Wright currently averages a team-high 12.4 points per
game, while Fiacco averages 7.7 rebounds per game. Overall,
Lafayette has a 36.3 field goal percentage and a .293 percentage
from the three-point range. The Leopards average 43 rebounds per
game, while holding their opponents to 37.8
rebounds.

St. Joseph's enters
the tournament with an overall record of 8-3. The Hawks won their
first three games of the season against Providence, 64-49, Sacred
Heart, 67-49, and UMBC, 64-50. St. Joseph's then lost on the road
at Drexel, 50-47, Lehigh, 46-40, and Tulane, 67-58. The Hawks are
currently on a five-game winning streak as they beat Detroit,
77-70, Penn, 60-45, Villanova, 46-43, Princeton, 70-61, and
Delaware, 50-45, in their most recent outing. The Hawks led by as
many as 16 points at Delaware and shot 37 percent from the floor,
40 percent from behind the arc, and finished 10-of-10 from the
free-throw line. Freshman guard Erin Shields led St. Joseph's with
a career-high 15 points in the victory. Overall the Hawks have a
42.2 field goal percentage, while its opponents shoot 33.7 percent
from the floor. Currently, St. Joseph's averages 58.5 points, 13.8
assists and 35.6 rebounds per game. Junior guard Michelle Baker
leads the Hawks with 16.2 points per game, while junior forward
Kelly Cavallo averages a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.

New Hampshire

the season were against Dartmouth, 65-52, on Nov. 19 and
Quinnipiac, 75-64, on Dec. 22. Both victories were won at New
Hampshire. The Wildcats shot over 50 percent from the floor and
outrebounded Dartmouth, 38-28. Jill McDonald collected a
double-double recording 15 points and 13 rebounds. In its most
recent outing, New Hampshire outshot Quinnipiac with a .490 field
goal percentage. Denise Beliveau and Lauren Wells each scored 18
points. New Hampshire has fallen short to Notre Dame, Brown, Holy
Cross, Syracuse, Manhattan, Harvard, and Central Connecticut State
this season. Junior forward Beliveau leads the Wildcats, averaging
12.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while McDonald, a senior
center, averages 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this year.

points and 3.9 assists per game. Barron is currently ranked in the
top 10 of the NEC with 12.1 points per game average. Barron also
ranks in the top-15 of the conference with a .412 field goal
percentage.

McQuain has remained at the top of Quinnipiac's defense,
averaging 4.6 defensive rebounds per game. McQuain ranks in the
top-20 of the NEC, pulling down 5.8 rebounds per game overall.
In-state Rivalry
The Bobcats fell short on Monday, Dec. 20, as it lost, 74-68, to
in-state rival Yale University. The Bobcats played a great first
half and led by two points, 35-33, after the first twenty minutes
of play. Despite the loss, Quinnipiac outshot Yale, shooting 37.2
percent from the field, and outrebounded the Ivy League team,
42-36.

Sophomore guard Felicia
Barron and senior center Courtney
Kaminski, each scored 16 points at Yale. In addition, Barron
collected three rebounds, five assists and a steal, while Kaminski
recorded five rebounds and an assist in the defeat.

Dunbar came close to earning her first double-double of the
season as she scored nine points and pulled-down 10 rebounds
against Yale. The junior forward added two assists and a steal in
the loss.
Battling On
The Basketball Court
Quinnipiac beat the Army Black Knights, 69-65, on
Saturday. Dec. 11 in a game held at the TD Bank Sports Center. In
their third-straight win of the season, the Bobcats shot 38.3
percent from the floor and 80.8 percent from the line, while both
teams collected 35 rebounds. Quinnipiac ended the half with a 10
point lead, 42-32. The Bobcats continued to stay ahead, later
increasing their lead by 12 points down the stretch. The Black
Knights came back within two points, but Quinnipiac was able to add
another two points by Felicia
Barron to end the game, ahead by four points, 69-65.
Top Players Against Army
Jacki
Mann recorded both game and career highs, as she scored 18
points in the victory against Army. In addition, the junior forward
collected a team-high seven rebounds and an assist, a block, and a
steal. Felicia
Barron tallied 17 points, three assists, three rebounds, and
three steals against Army.
A Nice Start
In NEC Play
The Bobcats won their first NEC game of the year against
Wagner, 85-72, at the TD Bank Sports Center on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Quinnipiac shot a season-high 46.6 percent from the floor and 83.3
percent from the line. The Bobcats scored 21 points off of 13
Wagner turnovers and outrebounded the Seahawks, 45-32. Four
Quinnipiac players scored in double figures, including Alyssa Jann

Senior captain Alyssa
Jann was 3-4 from the floor and from behind the arc against the
Seahawks. The forward pulled together 11 points, four rebounds, and
a steal in the game. Jann has made 12 three-pointers this season
and averages 7.1 points per game.

McQuain led the Bobcats' defensive with five defensive
rebounds, six in total, versus Wagner. The freshman added 10 points
and two assists in the match.
First Win Of
The Season
Quinnipiac earned its first win of the season against the
University of Vermont on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The Bobcats beat the
Catamounts, 76-67, in a game played at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Quinnipiac closed the first half with a 14-2 run, turning a
seven-point deficit into a five-point lead at the half, 38-33. The
Bobcats then opened the second half with a 17-2 run to push their
lead to 20 points, 55-35. Quinnipiac led by as many 23 points in
the game. Three Quinnipiac players scored in double-figures against
Vermont, including Felicia
Barron (17), Kari
Goodchild (15) and Brittany
McQuain (10).

Versus Vermont
Felicia
Barron matched her career-high 17 points against Vermont. The
sophomore guard previously scored 17 points against Vermont back in
the 2008-09 season. Barron added five assists, two rebounds and two
steals in the win. Kari
Goodchild scored a career-high 15 points versus Vermont. She
also made five rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Jacinda
Dunbar scored seven points and added a season-high seven
rebounds against Vermont. McQuain pulled down nine rebounds versus
Vermont and collected 10 points, three steals, one assist, and one
block in the match.
Vanderbilt
Thanksgiving Tourney
The Bobcats played in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving
Tournament in late November. In its first game of the tournament,
Quinnipiac lost to nationally-ranked Vanderbilt, 111-53. Alyssa
Jann scored 14 points and pulled down a rebound and an assist,
while Felicia
Barron, an All-Tournament selectee, scored eight points in the
loss.
California
Dreaming
Quinnipiac lost, 78-59, to Southern California, in its
second game of the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 28.
Tied, 35-35, at halftime, the Bobcats were unable to come back in
the second half. Overall, the team shot 35.2 percent from the floor
and 71.4 percent from the line. Felicia

At St.
Bonaventure
Quinnipiac fell to
St. Bonaventure, 66-47, in a contest held at the Reilly Center on
Nov. 21. The Bobcats were led by Felicia
Barron as she scored 14 points and made four assists. Alyssa
Jann pulled down a team-high six rebounds out of the team's
33.
Holy Cross At Home
The Bobcats lost, 72-60, in its home-opener against Holy Cross on
Wednesday, Nov. 17 at the TD Bank Sports Center. The team recorded
a 66.7 free-throw percentage and was .329 from the floor in the
defeat. In the first twenty minutes of play, the score was tied
four times, while the lead changed three times. Despite the loss,
the Bobcats were able to hold the Crusaders to only a two-point
lead in the first half.
Kaminski Scores 1,000th Point
Senior center Courtney
Kaminski became the 17th Quinnipiac women's basketball player
to score 1,000 points, as she scored 10 points in Wednesday's game
against Holy Cross. The senior also made five rebounds in the
contest, after missing the Bobcats' first game of the season.
Leading Ladies At Home
Felicia
Barron led the Bobcats with 14 points, a team-high four assists
and two steals against Holy Cross. Kari
Goodchild pulled down a team-high seven assists and scored six
points, while Jacinda
Dunbar led Quinnipiac with two blocks versus Holy Cross, also
recording 11 points and six rebounds in the game. In addition, Jacki
Mann was the only player to make every field goal attempt (6).
The junior forward scored 12 points, tallied one assist and pulled
down four rebounds overall.
Season-Opener
The Bobcats lost, 65-48, in their season-opener on Friday, Nov. 12
at Fairfield University. Overall, Quinnipiac was .455 from the free
throw line and had a .340 field goal percentage in the contest. The
team was led by freshman forward Brittany
McQuain and junior transfer Kari
Goodchild. Both Quinnipiac newcomers scored nine points, while
McQuain also recorded seven rebounds.
Preseason
Picks
Quinnipiac was selected to finish sixth out of 12 teams in
the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bobcats
finished the 2009-10 season in eighth place in the NEC standings
with a 7-11 record in conference play and a 12-18 overall record.
Senior center Courtney
Kaminski was selected to the Preseason All-NEC team. 2010 NEC
Tournament finalist Long Island was the Preseason favorite,
clinching the first place choice with six first-place
votes.
Happy New Year
Quinnipiac will play its first game of 2011 on Tuesday, January 4
against Northeast Conference opponent Mount St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m.
at the TD Bank Sports Center.
