Women's Basketball Plays Host To Army On Saturday At Noon

Quinnipiac Plays Army
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team (1-0
NEC, 2-5) will host Army (3-6) in a non-conference match on
Saturday, Dec. 11 at 12:00 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center in
Hamden, Conn. The Bobcats enter the game after winning its first
Northeast Conference match-up of the season, 85-72, against Wagner
on Saturday, Dec. 4.

In their most recent outing, the Black Knights lost,
95-65, to Penn State on Dec. 8. Senior forward Erin Anthony, who
was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 6,
scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down a team-high seven
rebounds in the contest. Army shot 37.9 percent from the floor and
80 percent from the line. Before its game against the Big Ten team,
the Black Knights were 3-5 on the season. Army lost in its first
game of the year at Wagner, 52-48. The team's three wins this
season were against Medaille, 60-45, St. Francis (N.Y.), 57-34, and
Pennsylvania, 53-44, all of which were played at home. The Black
Knights lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, 52-43, and Seton Hall, 50-40,
early in the season. Army then lost to Northeastern, 65-56 on Nov.
29, and was defeated against Binghamton in a close match-up, 63-61,
on Dec. 4. Overall, the Black Knights have a .353 field goal
percentage and a .647 free throw percentage. The team averages 38.6
rebounds per game. Anthony leads Army, averaging 13.7 points and
11.4 rebounds per game. In addition, Laura Baranek averages 9.4
points per game, while Jessie Coiffard leads the team with 22
assists.

Against Army
Quinnipiac and Army have met twice in program history with
the Bobcats leading the series, 2-0. The Bobcats beat the Black
Knights in their most recent meeting, 61-57, on Dec. 2, 2001. Also,
Quinnipiac defeated Army, 63-53 in the 1983-84 season.

Sferra matched a career-high seven rebounds and posted three
assists and three steals in the contest.

Senior captain Alyssa
Jann was 3-4 from the floor and from behind the arc against the
Seahawks. The forward pulled together 11 points, four rebounds, and
a steal in the game. Jann has made 12 three-pointers this season
and averages 7.1 points per game.

McQuain led the Bobcats' defensive with five defensive
rebounds, six in total, versus Wagner. The freshman added 10 points
and two assists in the match. Currently, McQuain leads Quinnipiac
with 6.4 rebounds per game.
First Victory
At Home
Quinnipiac earned its first win of the season against the
University of Vermont on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The Bobcats beat the
Catamounts, 76-67, in a game played at the TD Bank Sports Center.
Quinnipiac closed the first half with a 14-2 run, turning a
seven-point deficit into a five-point lead at the half, 38-33. The
Bobcats then opened the second half with a 17-2 run to push their
lead to 20 points, 55-35. Quinnipiac led by as many 23 points in

Barron matched her career-high 17 points against Vermont. The
sophomore guard previously scored 17 points against Vermont back in
the 2008-09 season. Barron added five assists, two rebounds and two
steals in the recent victory.

also made five rebounds and four assists.

Vanderbilt
Thanksgiving Tourney
The Bobcats played in the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving
Tournament over the holiday weekend. In its first game of the
tournament, Quinnipiac lost to nationally-ranked Vanderbilt,
111-53. Alyssa Jann scored 14 points and pulled down a rebound and
an assist, while Felicia
Barron, an All-Tournament selectee, scored eight points in the
loss.

Dreaming
Quinnipiac lost, 78-59, to Southern California, in its
second game of the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 28.
Tied, 35-35, at halftime, the Bobcats were unable to come back in
the second half. Overall, the team shot 35.2 percent from the floor
and 71.4 percent from the line. Felicia

Bonaventure
Quinnipiac fell to
St. Bonaventure, 66-47, in a contest held at the Reilly Center on
Nov. 21. The Bobcats were led by Felicia
Barron as she scored 14 points and made four assists. Alyssa
Jann pulled down a team-high six rebounds out of the team's
33.
Holy
Cross At Home
The Bobcats lost, 72-60, in its home-opener against Holy Cross on
Wednesday, Nov. 17. at the TD Bank Sports Center. The team recorded
a 66.7 free throw percentage and was .329 from the floor in the
defeat. In the first twenty minutes of play, the score was tied
four times, while the lead changed three times. Despite the loss,
the Bobcats were able to hold the Crusaders to only a two-point
lead in the first half.
Kaminski Scores 1,000th Point
Senior center Courtney
Kaminski became the 17th Quinnipiac women's basketball player
to score 1,000 points, as she scored 10 points in Wednesday's game
against Holy Cross. The senior also made five rebounds in the
contest, after missing the Bobcats' first game of the season.
Leading Ladies At Home
Felicia
Barron led the Bobcats with 14 points, a team-high four assists
and two steals against Holy Cross. Kari
Goodchild pulled down a team-high seven assists and scored six
points, while Jacinda
Dunbar led Quinnipiac with two blocks versus Holy Cross, also
recording 11 points and six rebounds in the game. In addition, Jacki
Mann was the only player to make every field goal attempt (6).
The junior forward scored 12 points, tallied one assist and pulled
down four rebounds overall.
The Bobcats lost, 65-48, in their season-opener on Friday, Nov. 12 at Fairfield University. Overall Quinnipiac was .455 from the free throw line and had a .340 field goal percentage in the contest. The team was led by freshman forward Brittany McQuain and junior transfer Kari Goodchild. Both Quinnipiac newcomers scored nine points, while McQuain also recorded seven rebounds.
What's Ahead For Quinnipiac
The Bobcats will play four-straight away games, its first against Yale on Dec. 20 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a game at the University of New Hampshire on Dec. 33 at 5:00 p.m. Quinnipiac will take part in the St. Joseph's Tournament as it plays Lafayette on Dec. 28 at 4:00 p.m. and either St. Joseph's or New Hampshire on Dec. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
