Women's Basketball Names 2010-11 Captains
Conn. - Quinnipiac women's basketball Head Coach Tricia
Fabbri has named two captains for the upcoming 2010-11 season.
Seniors Alyssa Jann (Westford, Mass.) and Lailah
Pratt (Palmyra, N.J.) will lead the Bobcats as they look to
clinch their 11th consecutive appearance in the
Northeast Conference Tournament.
"What is so wonderful
in naming seniors, Lailah and Alyssa captains for this year, is the
overwhelming respect that they have garnered from me, my staff and
most importantly their teammates, said Head Coach Tricia
Jann appeared in all
30 games last season, making ten starts on the year. Her .400
three-point field goal percentage ranked in the top five in the
NEC, while ranking second on the team. The forward's 168 points
ranked fourth amongst the Bobcats, while she led Quinnipiac with a
.900 free throw percentage, making 18 of 20 attempts. Jann scored a
career-high of 16 points at Miami on Dec. 28 last season.
Pratt also played in
every game for Quinnipiac in the 2009-10 season. The forward
compiled 143 points and 37 assists on the year. Pratt ranked third
on the team with 129 rebounds, while her 67 offensive rebounds
ranked in the top 15 in the conference. She scored a career-high 12
points against Long Island in the NEC Tournament Quarterfinals on
March 6, 2010.
"Both have paid their
dues and have worked tirelessly over their careers to become not
only starters, but leaders on the court, in the locker room and in
the classroom, said Fabbri. "They are tremendous ambassadors for
our women's basketball program and Quinnipiac University.
The Bobcats play
their first game of the 2010-11 season against non-conference
opponent Fairfield University on Friday, Nov. 12 at Alumni Hall in
Fairfield, Conn. at 7:00 p.m.
