Saturday's Game
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team takes on
the top squad in the Northeast Conference Saturday afternoon when
it travels to play Robert Morris. The Bobcats and Colonials are set
tip-off from the Sewall Center in Moon Township, Pa., at 4 p.m.
Quinnipiac is coming off a 24-point loss, 78-54, to Saint Francis
(PA) Thursday night in Loretto to drop its conference mark to 5-10
this season and 10-16 overall. The Bobcats now sit in a tie for the
eighth and final playoff spot in the NEC Tournament with Mount St.
Mary's headed into Saturday's game with Robert Morris.
Scouting the Colonials
The Bobcats' toughest task of the season will come on
Saturday as they take on the powerhouse Colonials on their home
floor. Robert Morris has a three-game lead on Sacred Heart and Long
Island as it is 14-1 in NEC play this season. Defeating the
defending NEC Champions from Sacred Heart by 28 points, 71-43, on
Thursday night, the Colonials are now in the driver's seat for the
top seed in the upcoming conference postseason tournament,
clinching the spot for the first time in prgram history. Robert
Morris' one loss this season came at Monmouth by one point, 51-50,
on Jan. 16. Following the loss, the Colonials have won their last
nine games.

Last
of the Season
Saturday's game is not the last of the year for the
Bobcats, but it does mark the last NEC opponent of the season that
Quinnipiac has yet to face. The Bobcats have played every team in
the league at least once, except for Saturday's opponent from
Robert Morris. The 4 p.m. meeting is the only between the two teams
in 2009-10.
New
Heights
Junior Lailah Pratt (Palmyra, N.J.) reached a new career
high in scoring with 11 points on Thursday night. The Quinnipiac
forward had a team-high nine points at halftime, before scoring the
two points in the second half to eclipse her previous mark of 10
set twice this season. Pratt started the game for her defense, but
was a key contributor on the offensive end of the floor. She also
set a new career high with four steals in the game.
Nearly There
Junior center Courtney Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) was the
Bobcats' top scorer against the Red Flash. Her 19 points came from
six field goals from the floor and seven mad free throws in the
game. Kaminski has been the team's leading point producer in each
of the last four games and 12 times overall this season for a 14.5
scoring average.
Freshmen Dish Out the Help
Freshmen guards Ryan Simmons (Norwalk, Conn.) and Lisa
Lebak (Robbinsville, N.J.) combined to dish out 10 assists against
the Red Flash. Lebak finished with a team-high six in the game,
while Simmons came off the bench to add four. Lebak is fifth in the
NEC this season with 107 total assists and sixth with an average of
4.28 per game.
Sferra's Solid Play
Freshman forward Shelby Sferra (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) came
off the bench early in the first half and immediately made an
impact on the floor. Although, not setting a career high in
rebounds, her four boards, including three on the offensive end,
were key for the Bobcats in the first half. Her play also
translated to six points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor.
