Saturday's Game
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team will
play host to in-state rival Central Connecticut on Saturday at noon
at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats are currently on a
two-game losing streak with both losses coming to Bryant in a
home-and-home with the Bulldogs. Quinnipiac dropped the second game
Thursday night, 67-42, at home to the Bulldogs. The loss drops the
Bobcats to fourth in the Northeast Conference standings at 4-3 in
league play.
Scouting the Blue Devils
Central Connecticut knocked off defending conference
champs Sacred Heart, 67-64, Thursday night in Fairfield. The
three-point win for the Blue Devils snapped Sacred Heart's 27-game
win streak against NEC opponents after finishing last season
undefeated in its conference schedule and league tournament. Four
CCSU players reached double figures in scoring in the win for the
first time this season. Junior Leanne Crockett led Central with
season highs of 20 points and four three-pointers as CCSU beat the
Pioneers for the first time in 17 games. Central Connecticut brings
a 6-11 overall mark to Hamden, while tied for the final postseason
playoff spot with a 3-4 NEC mark.

What
Happened Last Time?
The Bobcats jumped out to a big lead on the Blue Devils
last Thursday in New Britain's Detrick Gymnasium. Quinnipiac held
Central to 12 first-half points as it led 27-12 at the break. The
12 points were the lowest point total in a half in nearly four
years for the Bobcats since allowing Robert Morris just 12 in the
final half of play on Feb. 27, 2006. Quinnipiac owns an 18-game win
streak over CCSU dating back to 2000-01 season.
Do
It Again Dunbar
Sophomore Jacinda Dunbar (Edison, N.J.) matched the
team-best figure with her fifth double-double of the season. Dunbar
scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, also a
team high in the game.
Team
Leads
In the last two games, both against Bryant, Dunbar led the
Bobcats in both scoring and rebounding. She has led the Bobcats in
scoring in each of the last three games after only doing it once in
the first 15 contests of the season. Prior to Dunbar's three-game
run as the top scorer, junior Courtney Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) led
the team in scoring in the previous three games.
Double Up
Kaminski was the only other player besides Dunbar to reach
double figures in scoring for the Bobcats on Thursday night. Her 10
points marked the eighth consecutive game that she reached the
double-digit scoring plateau and the 15th time this season.
Injury Report
This season, Quinnipiac has had 48 man-games lost to
injury amongst four of its top players. The Bobcats also were dealt
a blow in the preseason when it lost freshman inside presence Robin
Keke (Bowie, Md.) to a season-ending injury and senior Sarah
McGowan (Red Lion, Pa.) missing every game this season recovering
from a knee-injury.
