Saturday's Game
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team opens
its 2009-10 Northeast Conference schedule Saturday afternoon at
Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J., at 3 p.m. The
Bobcats are coming off an 11-point win, 90-79, against Central
Michigan in the Consolation Game of the Wyndham Miami Holiday
Tournament at the BankUnited Center. After falling to the hosts
from Miami in the first game of the two-day tournament, the Bobcats
defeated the Chippewas to earn Head Coach Tricia Fabbri's 200th
career victory.

Scouting the Hawks
Monmouth comes into Saturday's game sporting an identical
record to Quinnipiac at 5-6 overall and 0-0 in conference play. The
game also marks the first NEC contest to be played in the newly
opened Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) on Monmouth's campus.
Monmouth recently won the Hawk Holiday Classic with victories
against Howard and LaSalle. Alysha Womack leads the Hawks this
season with 10.2 points per game, while Abby Martin is the team's
top rebounder pulling down 7.8 boards a contest. Monmouth and
Quinnipiac are the last two teams to play an NEC game in the
2009-10 season as both begin its conference schedules on
Saturday.
200 and Counting
Fabbri earned her 200th career win on Tuesday with the
victory against Central Michigan. The win came in her 402nd career
game at the helm of the Bobcats. During her 15 seasons at
Quinnipiac, Fabbri has 138 NEC wins and 105 total victories in
Hamden.
Double Up
For the second time this season, sophomore Jacinda Dunbar
(Edison, N.J.) recorded a double-double. Against the Chippewas,
Dunbar matched her career high of 15 points, while pulling down 12
boards for the double-double. She scored 10 points and had 13
rebounds at Providence on Nov. 24 for her first of the season.
New High
Against Miami, junior Alyssa Jann (Westford, Mass.) came
off the bench to score a career-high 16 points. Jann went 5-of-7
from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range in the game. She
also connected on both free-throws attempts in just 15 minutes of
play.
Rebounding Machine
Pulling down 12 boards against CMU was not a feat that
was new to Dunbar. In the first game of the tournament, the
Quinnipiac sophomore also pulled down 12 rebounds against Miami.
Despite finishing with 12 in the game, Dunbar was on pace for more
than 20 in the contest as she had 11 after 20 minutes of play.
Bouncing Back
After giving up a season-high 93 points to Miami on
Monday, Quinnipiac bounced back with a season-high 90 points of its
own on Tuesday against the Chippewas. The Bobcats shot 25.4 percent
against the Hurricanes only to double that and finish 50 percent
(28-56) from the floor against CMU.
Nearly There
Senior Kathleen Neyens (Jaffrey, N.H.) set a new
career-high with 20 points against the Chippewas. Her previous high
of 18 came in two separate games with the most recent coming last
season at Sacred Heart on Feb. 2, 2009. She also pulled down eight
boards in the game, two shy of reaching her second double-double of
the season, while her 20 points marked a season team high.
Double Digit Team
Joining Dunbar and Neyens in double figures were junior
Courtney Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) and sophomore Jacki Mann
(Rutherford, N.J.). Kaminski scored 18 points, matching her season
high, while Mann reached double figures for just the second time in
her career with 10 points in the game.
Almost Perfect From the Line
Four of the five Quinnipiac players with an opportunity
against CMU were perfect from the free-throw line. Neyens became
the second player to finish 10-for-10 from the charity stripe this
season, joining Kaminski to accomplish the achievement. Kaminski
was also 5-for-5 against the Chippewas. Dunbar connected on all
four free-throw attempts, while Lailah Pratt (Palmyra, N.J.) was
2-for-2 in the game.
Fire Up Cats!
Against CMU, Quinnipiac finished with 20 assists. It
marked the first time in nearly 10 years that the Bobcats posted 20
assists in a game. The last time the team accomplished the feat was
against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 23, 2000.
