Quinnipiac University women's basketball senior guard Erin
Kerner (Erie, Pa.) was named the Choice Hotels Northeast
Conference Player of the Week the league office today announced.
Kerner won her fourth career Player of the Week honor after scoring
a season-high 35 points at Yale on Sunday, Dec. 21. This season,
Kerner has averaged 18.8 points per game (2nd-NEC) in leading the
Bobcats to a 2-0 NEC mark and an 8-2 overall record.
Against the Bulldogs, Kerner finished two points shy of her career-high of 37 set last March against Long Island in the NEC Tournament Semifinals. Her 35 points on 10-of-22 shooting helped force overtime as she scored 12 of the Bobcats' final 18 points in regulation. Of Kerner's 35 points, 13 came from the free-throw line on 14 attempts.
This season, Kerner has broken the 20-point mark in five of the team's 10 games. She is shooting .436 from the floor and is fifth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.364).
Quinnipiac returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 28, when they travel to Durham, N.C., take on No. 8 Duke. The Bobcats and Blue Devils are scheduled to tip-off from Cameron Indoor Stadium at 2 p.m.
