NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University softball team helped at the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Sports Council's Dover Beach clean-up event in New Haven on Sunday. Along with student-athletes from other institutions in the area including Southern Connecticut State, Albertus Magnus College and the University of New Haven came out to help with the clean-up.
This program is just one example of many community outreach events that Quinnipiac student-athletes will take part in as part of the Quinnipiac University Positive Play Initiative. Quinnipiac University promotes community outreach across all 21 varsity sports to connect with surrounding elementary, middle and high schools as well as local townspeople throughout the state of Connecticut.
The Bobcats entire team made the trip down to Dover Beach where they spent Sunday morning picking up trash and debris along the beach park. This marked the first year in which Quinnipiac has participated in an annual tradition at Dover Beach where teams from the University of New Haven, Southern Connecticut and Albertus Magnus all assist in the clean-up efforts.
