HAMDEN, Conn. - Inclement weather continues to wreck havoc on the schedule for the Quinnipiac University softball team as their Monday doubleheader against Monmouth has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The steady day-long rain storm on Saturday continued late in the night, into Sunday morning, making field conditions unsuitable for playing. The makeup date for the two-game set against Monmouth is still yet to be determined.
The Bobcats had originally scheduled for five games this past week up through today but inclement weather has allowed for just one game to finish. Quinnipiac fell to Manhattan, 6-1, on Saturday morning in their MAAC opener. Game two against the Jaspers was well under way on Saturday afternoon as Quinnipiac was ahead 1-0 with the bases loaded in the fourth inning but suddenly the downpour began and forced the teams to schedule the continuation of the game for another day.
Even with Monday's schedule change, the Bobcats still have a full slate of games for this upcoming week as they take on Fairfield on Wednesday in the 2014 home opener, challenge UConn in a non-conference tilt on Thursday at 3:30 pm and travel to Saint Peter's and Rider this weekend for a pair of road conference doubleheaders.
Bobcat fans should stay tuned to the Official Website of Quinnipiac Athletics, www.QuinnipiacBobcats.com, for all the latest schedule changes, news, highlights and updates.
