Nikki Barba Named to All-MAAC Second Team; Softball Names Six Players to MAAC All-Academic Team
Quinnipiac softball junior infielder Nikki Barba (San Diego, Calif.) was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, as announced on Wednesday evening by the league office. The All-Conference First and Second Team were selected by a vote of the league’s coaches.

Softball Honors Katie Alfiere on Senior Day, Bobcats Fall to Canisius in Season-Ending Doubleheader, 5-4 and 6-2
The Quinnipiac University softball team's 2014 campaign came to an end on Senior Day Sunday afternoon as the Bobcats were swept by the Canisius Golden Griffins, 5-4 and 6-2, from the QU Softball Field. Senior Katie Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) was honored prior to the start of Sunday's doubleheader for all her contributions to the team throughout the last four years. Quinnipiac concludes its first season under first year head coach Jill Karwoski with an overall record of 11-36 while they finish with a 6-14 MAAC record, good enough for 9th place in the first year in their new conference.

Softball Splits MAAC Doubleheader With Niagara; Courtney Solt Becomes Second Fastest Bobcat to 100 Career Hits
The Quinnipiac University softball team split a MAAC doubleheader against Niagara, losing the first game, 2-0, before holding off a seventh inning rally to top the Purple Eagles, 6-4, in the second game. Quinnipiac goes to 11-34 (6-12 MAAC) on the year while Niagara moves to 17-29 (7-11 MAAC).

Softball Hosts Niagara at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Before Senior Day Sunday Against Canisius at Noon
The Quinnipiac University softball team (10-33, 5-11 MAAC) will conclude its 2014 home slate this weekend with matchups against the Niagara Purple Eagles (16-28, 6-10 MAAC) and the Canisius Golden Griffins (16-28, 6-10 MAAC). Both opponents come in with identical records while each team has something to play for in terms of their postseason chances. Quinnipiac needs to sweep the weekend to have a chance of making the postseason while both Niagara and Canisius are in need of at least three wins if they hope to secure a spot among the six-team MAAC Tournament. The Bobcats will also honor senior Katie Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) who’ll be playing in the final home games of her four-year career.

QU Softball Helps Out With Dover Beach Clean-Up
The Quinnipiac University softball team helped at the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Sports Council's Dover Beach clean-up event in New Haven on Sunday. Along with student-athletes from other institutions in the area including Southern Connecticut State, Albertus Magnus College and the University of New Haven came out to help with the clean-up.

The non-conference softball doubleheader with the University of Hartford and 1st annual StriKe Out Cancer game for the Quinnipiac University softball team has been cancelled to due impending inclement weather. The Bobcats and Hawks will not make-up the two non-conference games.

QU Softball Travels to In-State Rival, Former Conference Foe CCSU on Thursday
The Bobcats (10-32, 5-11 MAAC) will conclude its 2014 non-conference slate with a single non-conference game on Thursday against the CCSU Blue Devils. The will renew a former annual conference showdown and end their 2014 road slate with a single game at CCSU (27-14, 11-5 NEC) on Thursday at 3:30 pm.

Softball Drops Two Games to Reigning MAAC Champion Marist, 6-2 and 8-7 in 10 Innings
The Bobcats certainly didn't make it easy for the reigning MAAC Champion Marist Red Foxes on Saturday as they held a lead in game one and sent game two into the 10th inning but ultimately were swept in a doubleheader from Gartland Field, 6-2 and 8-7 (10 innings). Not to be lost among the two losses was junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) breaking the Quinnipiac Division I hitting streak record as she upped her incredible run to 17 straight games with a base hit. Quinnipiac's record falls to 10-32 (5-11 MAAC) on the season while the Red Foxes now sit along in second place in the conference at 19-21 overall and 9-3 in MAAC play.

Paolucci Smacks Solo Home Run, Giunta Doubles in Go-Ahead Run for Softball in 4-3 Win over Sacred Heart
Two crucial runs on two thunderous hits in the fourth inning for the Quinnipiac University softball team factored heavily in the BobcatS' 4-3 victory over regional rival Sacred Heart on Thursday. In a game that featured a sunny sky but overwhelming wind gusts approaching 40 mph, the Bobcats weathered the storm with a solid pitching outing from junior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, R.I.) and two massive shots from junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) and sophomore Paige Giunta (Downingtown, Pa.) that proved the difference for Quinnipiac.

Softball Hosts Sacred Heart on Thursday Before Traveling to Reigning MAAC Champ Marist on Saturday
The Quinnipiac University softball team (9-30, 5-9 MAAC) has three games on the slate this week starting with a non-conference clash with Sacred Heart on Thursday from Hamden followed by a MAAC road doubleheader on Saturday against the reigning 2013 MAAC Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament participant Marist Red Foxes. The Bobcats host the Pioneers on Thursday at 3:30 pm from the QU Softball Field and will begin their doubleheader at Marist on 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Paige Giunta Caps Comeback for Softball With Walk-Off Double to Help Salvage Split for the Bobcats Against Monmouth
After trudging through 13-plus inning against the Monmouth Hawks without once gaining a lead, the Quinnipiac University softball team decided it was better late than never. Trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcat offense came alive with four runs capped by a walk-off double from sophomore Paige Giunta (Downingtown, Pa.) to lift Quinnipiac to the 6-5 victory in game two of Sunday's doubleheader. The Bobcats dropped game one as Giunta's double salvaged a split in the two-game MAAC set to move Quinnipiac to 9-30 (5-9 MAAC) while the Hawks stand 14-17 (6-6 MAAC) on the season.

Two Home Doubleheaders Ahead for Softball: Stony Brook on Thursday at 3:00 PM and Monmouth on Easter Sunday at 12:00 PM
The Quinnipiac softball team begins their regular season-ending home stand that includes 11 games at home compared to just three on the road in their final 14 contests of the season with a Thursday non-conference doubleheader against Stony Brook. This year's meeting between the Seawolves and Bobcats will make nine straight seasons in which the two have faced off with Stony Brook owning the all-time advantage with an 8-5 record. Following the Thursday doubleheader is an Easter Sunday holiday special that features the Bobcats squaring off against the Monmouth Hawks with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm. In an annual rivalry that also is going into its ninth consecutive year, the Bobcats have split the all-time series with an 8-8 record against the Hawks.

Softball Swept By America East's First Place Stony Brook Seawolves, 4-2 and 8-3
The Quinnipiac University softball team certainly had their moments and hung in with the America East’s first place Stony Brook but ultimately fell twice in the non-conference doubleheader, 4-2 and 8-3. Despite frigid temperatures and impending darkness towards the latter half of game two, the Bobcats failed to go down easily as they held the Seawolves' offense scoreless in the final four innings of game one and three innings of game two. The Bobcats were doomed by their lack of timely hitting as they stranded 17 runners combined throughout the doubleheader. Quinnipiac falls to 8-29 on the season while Stony Brook ups their winning streak to seven games as they improve to 22-14.

QU Softball Hosting 1st Annual StriKe Out Cancer Game on Wed., April 30 at 2:30 PM; Bobcats Will Wear Pink in Support of American Cancer Society
The Quinnipiac University softball team invites all Bobcat fans to attend their 1st annual StriKe Out Cancer Game on Wednesday, April 30 at 2:30 pm. The Bobcats will dawn pink uniforms in support of the American Cancer Society as they welcome the Hartford Hawks for a doubleheader from the QU Softball Field. Softball's Doubleheader Against Stony Brook Postponed to Thursday, April 17 at 3:00 PM
The Quinnipiac University softball has moved their non-conference doubleheader against Stony Brook to Thursday, April 17 at 3:00 pm from the QU Softball Field. The Bobcats were originally slated to host the Seawolves on Wednesday, April 16 but the games were forced to a later date due to unplayable field conditions. The Quinnipiac University softball team dropped both ends of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader to Iona, 9-2 and 13-3, at the QU Softball Field in Hamden, Conn. With the losses, Quinnipiac falls to 8-27 overall and 4-8 in the MAAC.

Softball Swept in Doubleheader at Siena, 3-2 and 10-2
Siena took advantage of some timely hitting in game one and dominated offensively in game two as they swept a doubleheader from the Quinnipiac University softball team in MAAC play on Saturday. The Saints took the opener 3-2 and game two 10-2 in six innings. Quinnipiac drops to 8-25 (4-6 MAAC) on the season while Siena jumps over .500 up to 17-16 (5-1 MAAC).

Softball Heads to Sacred Heart on Thursday Before Resuming MAAC Play With Siena and Iona This Weekend
After putting on one of the most impressive string of offensive displays in program history last weekend as well as the first no-hitter in Quinnipiac softball’s Division I era, the Bobcats are riding a wave of momentum into play this weekend. Quinnipiac is slated for five games over a four-day stretch starting with a renewal of an annual rivalry with their former conference foes the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Thursday. The Bobcats will then take Friday to prepare for a pair of MAAC doubleheaders starting with a trip to Siena on Saturday followed by a home doubleheader against Iona on Sunday.

Bobcat Offense Held in Check With 4-0 Loss to Sacred Heart
After a record-setting weekend's worth of offense, the Quinnipiac softball team's hitting spree came to a halt on Thursday in a 4-0 loss to Sacred Heart from Pioneer Park. Quinnipiac's former Northeast Conference foe stymied the Bobcats all afternoon as the Sacred Heart pitching combination limited the Bobcats to just one hit in seven innings. With the loss the Bobcats fall to 8-23 on the season while Sacred Heart snaps their six-game losing streak to improve to 10-14.

Jordan Paolucci Honored as MAAC Softball Player of the Week
After one of the most impressive offensive displays in the history of Quinnipiac softball last weekend, junior catcher/infielder Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) took home MAAC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, April 8. With multiple postseason accolades to her name, including an NFCA All-Region Team selection at the end of last season, this week marks Paolucci's first career Player of the Week award. Coupled with Courtney Solt's Player of the Week honor from two weeks ago, Quinnipiac now sits behind only Iona (three) for the most Player of the Week award winners in the 2014 season.

Hannah Lindsley Tosses First No-Hitter in QU Softball's Division I Era to Lead Bobcats Past Manhattan, 2-0
Quinnipiac junior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, R.I.) had the pitching performance of the year on Monday, hurling the first no-hitter for Quinnipiac softball in the Division I era (since 1998) to defeat Manhattan, 2-0. Lindsley had everything working as she limited the highest-scoring lineup in the MAAC coming into the weekend to nothing offensively. Her triumph also lifts the Bobcats who've won five of their last six games to improve to 8-22 on the season and 4-4 in the MAAC.

QU Softball Mashes Eight Home Runs in Two-Game Split of Rider; Paolucci and Lindsley Each Go Deep Twice in Sunday's Action
Any pitching staff who doubts the Quinnipiac softball offense is sorely mistaken as the Bobcats mashed 26 hits, eight homers, five doubles and 19 runs across a two-game split against Rider. Quinnipiac went deep three times in the game one but couldn't hold the lead late as they fell to the Broncs, 8-7, in game one. An even greater display was seen in game two as Quinnipiac tallied five home runs, including the first in the careers of Hannah Lindsley and Keilani Finley, to dominate Rider, 12-1, in five innings.

Jordan Paolucci Notches Career RBI No. 100 in Softball's First MAAC Victory, 6-3, Over Saint Peter's
Having long been considered the best power hitter the Quinnipiac softball program has ever seen, Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) continued to add to her legacy as she became just the third Bobcat ever to reach 100 career RBI in a 6-3 victory over Saint Peter's. Paolucci led the Bobcat offense with her three RBI on the day to go along with three hits for her fifth career three-hit game. Quinnipiac's (5-21, 1-3 MAAC) triumph over the Peacocks (4-21, 0-3 MAAC) in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader marked their first victory in their new conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Bobcat Offense Breaks Out With Single-Game Hits Record to Dominate Saint Peter's, 16-4, in Five Innings
For those fortunate enough to attend Quinnipiac softball's game two doubleheader against St. Peter's, they saw an offensive display that rivals some of the best the program has seen in its 37-year history. The Bobcat offensive attack busted out a single-game program record 20 hits and also scored the largest margin of victory on the road since May 6, 2005 as they defeated Saint Peter’s, 16-4, in five innings.

Softball Hits the Road for MAAC Showdowns Against Saint Peter's, Rider and Manhattan
Quinnipiac softball fans had all they could ask for in their weekday games this week as the Bobcats lost a nail biter to Fairfield before walking-off with an 11-10 victory over UConn on Thursday. Hoping the momentum translates into a successful weekend, the Bobcats (4-21, 0-3 MAAC) will now face some considerable tests this weekend as they hit the road for five MAAC games starting with a Saint Peter’s doubleheader on Saturday. On Sunday Quinnipiac will play a pair at Rider and will finish up a postponed game from March 29 against Manhattan that had the Bobcats leading by a score of 1-0 and with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

Softball Opens 2014 Home Slate With Wednesday Doubleheader Against Fairfield and Thursday Tilt With UConn
After playing 22 games away from Hamden, the Quinnipiac University softball team will return home to the QU Softball Field for their 2014 home opener. Inclement weather put a damper on the Bobcats’ weekend as they were forced to postpone three conference games, including what was scheduled as the 2014 home opener, until later in the season. The team hopes to get these weekday games in as the local weather is beginning to show signs of improvement. Quinnipiac will take on Fairfield for a doubleheader on Wednesday before batting UConn in a non-conference tilt on Thursday at 3:30 pm.

Monday's Doubleheader for Softball Against Monmouth Postponed; Makeup Date Still To Be Determined
Inclement weather continues to wreck havoc on the schedule for the Quinnipiac University softball team as their Monday doubleheader against Monmouth has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The steady day-long rain storm on Saturday continued late in the night, into Sunday morning, making field conditions unsuitable for playing. The makeup date for the two-game set against Monmouth is still yet to be determined.

Softball Falls to Manhattan in MAAC Opener, 6-1; Game Two Postponed Due to Rain
The Bobcats were stymied all afternoon, first by Manhattan’s Kate Bowen and then the rain, as the Quinnipiac softball team fell to Manhattan, 6-1, on Saturday from Gaelic Park. Quinnipiac’s offense could only muster four hits in a seven inning struggle against Bowen in game one to start the day and the Bobcats were leading 1-0 with the bases loaded in the fourth inning of game two, only to have play cease for the day due to heavy rainfall. The second game of the doubleheader will resume at a later date this season that is still to be determined.

Softball Announces Several Schedule Adjustments; Monmouth Doubleheader Moved to Monday, UConn Home Game Rescheduled for Thursday
With the threat of inclement weather looming for the entire state of Connecticut, the Quinnipiac University softball team has made three schedule changes that will affect games over the next week. The Bobcats' Saturday MAAC doubleheader on the road against Manhattan has been moved from 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Quinnipiac’s Sunday home opening doubleheader against Monmouth has been moved to Monday at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Finally, the Bobcats’ have rescheduled a non-conference tilt against UConn to Thursday at 3:30 pm from the QU Softball Field.

Softball's Clash With UConn Scheduled for Thursday, March 27 Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
The Quinnipiac University softball team was forced to cancel their game against UConn scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at 3:30 pm due to the inclement weather and field conditions. Attempts were made by both teams to move the game the Storrs but both team's playing surface was unfit for games and local weather reports call for temperatures in the low 40s with gusting winds up to 20 mph. No make-up date has been scheduled.

Courtney Solt Earns the First MAAC Player of the Week Honor in Quinnipiac Softball's Program History
Just two weeks after Quinnipiac softball earned its first MAAC Pitcher of the Week honor, sophomore outfielder Courtney Solt became the program’s first to win the MAAC Player of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, March 25. Solt wins her first career Player of the Week award after leading the Northeast Conference with three Rookie of the Week honors last season. This weekly honor is the first Player of the Week award won for Quinnipiac in their new conference while it also is the first Player of the Week for the Bobcats since Mina Duffy won the honor back on April 3, 2012.

Quinnipiac Softball Hosts UConn on Thursday for 2014 Home Opener, Face Manhattan and Monmouth for MAAC Opener this Weekend
After playing 21 games away from Hamden, the Quinnipiac University softball team will return home to the QU Softball Field for their 2014 home opener. Coming off their most impressive victory of the season on Sunday, in a 2-1 upset victory over Towson, the Bobcats will now take on an annual regional foe in UConn on Thursday afternoon from Hamden. The Huskies own a 16-5 all-time record against Quinnipiac but the Bobcats have won four of the last six meetings. After their non-conference matchup on Thursday, Quinnipiac will begin MAAC competition with weekend doubleheaders on the road against Manhattan on Saturday and at home against Monmouth on Sunday. The Bobcats split in two games against each the Jaspers and Hawks in 2013 as they look to get off on the right foot in their first season in the new conference.

Sydney Robey Tosses a Gem to Lead Softball to an Upset, Comeback Victory Over Towson, 2-1
Some timely hitting, mixed in with a clutch pitching performance from sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) was enough to push Quinnipiac softball past Towson, 2-1, in an upset victory on the road from the Towson Softball Complex. The Bobcats' sophomore ace pitcher tossed a complete game five-hitter while junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) drove in the game-winning run with an RBI triple in the fifth. Quinnipiac snaps a six-game losing streak to improve to 3-17 while Towson falls to 16-10 on the season.

Nikki Barba and Sydney Robey Each Homer for Quinnipiac Softball in 9-7 Loss to Wagner
A combined seven RBI from junior Nikki Barba (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) unfortunately wasn’t enough as the Quinnipiac softball team faltered late in a 9-7 loss to Wagner on Sunday. The Bobcats picked up plenty of run support as Barba and Robey each went deep with a three-run home run and grand slam, respectively, but three runs in the seventh inning for the Seahawks sealed their come-from-behind victory. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 3-18 while their former Northeast Conference counterpart improves to 10-13.

Softball Swept by Towson and Wagner in First Day of Tiger Invitational
The Quinnipiac softball team certainly had their opportunities in both games of a doubleheader on Friday but couldn't come away victorious in each as they fell to Towson (13-5) in six innings and Wagner (3-1) in the first day at the Tiger Invitational. The Bobcats held a lead as late as the fourth inning against the Tigers while they had two runners in scoring position down only one run against the Seahawks and didn't net anything from the prime opportunity. Quinnipiac falls to 2-17 on the season while Towson improves to 15-9 and Wagner moves to 9-12.

Five Games in Four Days Awaits QU Softball as they Travel to FDU on Thursday, Towson Invitational This Weekend
The Quinnipiac softball team continues their manic March schedule with five games in four days. They begin their trek down the East Coast with a Thursday road doubleheader against an old Northeast Conference foe in Fairleigh Dickinson. After the two games on Thursday, the Bobcats will continue their road trip down to Baltimore where they will participate in the Towson Invitational for one game against the host Tigers and two against another former conference foe in Wagner to wrap up the weekend.

Softball Drops Final Game of Florida Spring Break Tournament to Rutgers, 8-2
The Quinnipiac softball team was in control for a majority on Sunday’s contest against Rutgers but eight unanswered runs in the final three innings for the Scarlet Knights helped them walk away 8-2 winners over the Bobcats. The Bobcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning which held up throughout the first five frames until a six-run sixth inning for Rutgers proved to be the different as Quinnipiac falls to 2-15 while the Scarlet Knights improve to 10-7 on the season.

Jordan Paolucci Homers for Bobcats in Loss to Purdue, 10-2
The most prolific power hitter in program history, junior Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.), crushed mammoth home run up and out in the fourth inning to lead the Bobcats in a 10-2 loss in the program's first ever meeting against Purdue. Quinnipiac was able to push two runs across, one on Paolucci's home run and the other on an RBI single from sophomore Courtney Solt (Boyertown, Pa.), against the Big Ten Conference power. The Bobcats’ loss drops them to 2-13 on the season while the Boilermakers jump up to 10-15-1.

Softball's Comeback Bid Against Wis.-Green Bay Falls Short in 3-2 Loss on Saturday
The Quinnipiac softball team had their opponent right where they wanted them in the seventh inning, down one run with the bases loaded and one out, but the prime opportunity came and went as a game-ending double play sealed the win for Wisconsin-Green Bay, 3-2, over the Bobcats from the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The Bobcats' loss drops them to 2-14 on the season while the Phoenix win their seventh straight and improve to 7-1.

Sydney Robey Leads Offensive Surge in Softball's 5-2 Victory Over Former Conference Foe Wagner
Much like she’s done all season, sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) acted as the offensive catalyst on Friday in Quinnipiac softball’s 5-2 victory over former Northeast Conference foe Wagner from the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. Robey had herself a 3-for-4 day at the plate with three RBI and her third home run of the season while junior Hannah Lindsley (Narragansett, R.I.) and senior Katie Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) combined to allow just two runs over seven innings to pick up the Bobcats’ second win of the season. Quinnipiac improves to 2-11 on the season while the Seahawks fall to 4-9.

Sydney Robey Takes Hard Luck Loss on the Mound for Quinnipiac Softball in 4-1 Loss to Florida A&M
Three Bobcat errors, two in the fourth and one more in the sixth, proved costly as they led to all four Rattler runs in a 4-1 loss for Quinnipiac softball to Florida A&M on Friday from the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex. The three errors helped lead to four unearned runs for Florida A&M, spoiling a great complete game effort from sophomore Sydney Robey (Glenmoore, Pa.) as she allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out three in her complete game, six inning effort. Quinnipiac falls to 2-12 with the loss while Florida A&M improves to 7-13.

Softball Concludes Florida Trip With Five Games at Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament
The Quinnipiac softball team will wrap up their 12 game stint in 10 days down in Florida with an appearance in the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament. The Bobcats will play a series of five games against a mix of big name schools (Purdue, Rutgers) and one former conference opponent (Wagner). Quinnipiac is currently 1-11 on the season and are attempting to get back on the winning track with conference play looming in a couple weeks.

Quinnipiac Softball Swept in Non-Conference Doubleheader by Boston Univ. and Penn
The Quinnipiac University softball team couldn’t muster much offense in a pair of non-conference losses to Boston University, 9-1, and Penn, 10-1, with both games ending in five innings. The Bobcat offense was held in check throughout the 10 innings of play as they totaled just five hits in two games to help lead to the sweep. Quinnipiac’s two losses drop them to 1-11 while Boston University improved to 7-8 and Penn jumped up to 2-4 on the season.

Senior Katie Alfiere Wins Quinnipiac Softball's First Ever MAAC Pitcher of the Week Award
The Quinnipiac softball team's senior pitcher Katie Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) made some history on Tuesday, becoming the first player to win a weekly MAAC award as she took home the Pitcher of the Week honors for her performance last weekend for the Bobcats. Alfiere wins her second career Pitcher of the Week award as her first career award, also the last Pitcher of the Week Quinnipiac has won, came on May 7, 2012 when the program was still a member of the Northeast Conference.

Softball Will Face Boston University and Penn in Non-Conference Showdown on Tuesday from Clearwater, Fla.
After taking a much needed day off, the Quinnipiac softball team will resume play on Tuesday with two non-conference games against regional opponents in Boston University and the University of Penn from the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla. The Bobcats just wrapped up a run of five games in a 48 hour span this past weekend and will come into Tuesday riding a wave of momentum after picking up their first victory of the 2014 season on Sunday.

Softball Rallies for Head Coach Jill Karwoski's First Career Win at QU in a Come-From-Behind, 5-3, Win Over St. John's (N.Y.)
The Quinnipiac softball team helped ring in a new era on Sunday as the Bobcats picked up a 5-3 victory over St. John’s (N.Y.) which represented the first career win for newly hired head coach Jill Karwoski. The Bobcats certainly earned this result as they went down 3-1 after two innings but rallied back with four runs in the fourth through seventh innings while holding the Red Storm to no runs in the final five frames to score the come-from-behind win. Quinnipiac’s first victory in 2014 moves them to 1-9 while St. John’s falls to 8-12 on the season.

The Quinnipiac softball team lost to the Seton Hall Pirates, 6-0, in a non-conference game from Eddie C. Moore Field at the USF Under Armour Showcase on Saturday. The loss drops the Bobcats to 0-9 while Seton Hall improves to 4-14 on the season.

The Quinnipiac softball team fell to Indiana St., 10-1, and Cleveland St, 9-0, in the first day of action at the USF Under Armour Showcase. Both losses were in five innings as the Bobcats fall to 0-7 to start the season while the Sycamores (8-6) and and Vikings (9-6).

Quinnipiac Softball's Jill Karwoski Promoted to Head Coach
Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald has announced that Jill Karwoski will be promoted to softball head coach, effective immediately. Karwoski was previously hired as the interim head softball coach on Aug. 26, 2013. She will be the seventh head coach in program history and the third at the Division I level.

All Five Weekend Quinnipiac Softball Games at UNF Tournament Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
The Quinnipiac softball team just announced their five-game weekend matchups playing at the University of North Florida Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. have been cancelled due to inclement weather in Connecticut. The Bobcats were slated to take on Southern Ill., Savannah St. (twice), Troy, and the host North Florida from Friday through Sunday but the snowy conditions throughout Connecticut forced the team to cancel their flight. The UNF Tournament will still be played despite Quinnipiac's absence.

Softball Tabbed Seventh in MAAC Preseason Poll; Courtney Solt Named to Preseason All-Conference Team
The Quinnipiac softball team was selected to finish seventh in the MAAC preseason coaches' poll released by the league office on Wednesday, Feb. 12. In addition to their seventh place nod, sophomore outfielder Courtney Solt (Boyertown, Pa.) was voted by the league coaches onto the Preseason All-MAAC Team also announced this afternoon.

College Sports Madness Names Jordan Paolucci, Courtney Solt and Nikki Barba to Preseason All-MAAC Team
As the 2014 Quinnipiac softball season draws ever near, three Bobcats found their names on the College Sports Madness Preseason All-MAAC Team released on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Quinnipiac tied for the third-most players represented as redshirt junior catcher Jordan Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) and sophomore outfielder Courtney Solt (Boyertown, Pa.) were named to the First Team while junior infielder Nikki Barba (San Diego, Calif.) earned a Second Team nod. The college sports website, College Sports Madness, made the Preseason All-Conference selections via insight from both staff and independent writers covering MAAC softball.

QU Softball Announces 2014 Schedule
In her first season as the newly hired interim head coach for the Quinnipiac softball program, Jill Karwoski has announced the 2014 schedule for her squad. Among the 56 scheduled games over the course of four months (Feb.-May) includes three trips down to Florida, appearances in five tournaments, five games against 2013 NCAA Tournament teams and 20 games as a newly accepted member of the MAAC.

QU Softball Announces Hiring of Assistant Coach Bill Vasko
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, the Quinnipiac Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald as well as softball interim head coach Jill Karowski announced the hiring of Bill Vasko as an assistant coach. Vasko comes to Quinnipiac with three years of head coaching experience at the Division II Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia in addition to organizing several softball clinics and training regimens for young athletes.

Quinnipiac Softball to Host First Annual Home Run Derby on Sunday at 2 PM
The Quinnipiac softball team invites all to their first annual Home Run Derby at the QU Softball Field on Sunday, November 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. The Bobcats will be donating 50 percent of all proceeds to the United Way and in case of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Sunday, November 17.

The Bobcats will take on several familiar foes including two in-state rivals and QU Softball Field will host the annual City Series pitting Yale, University of New Haven, Southern Connecticut State and Quinnipiac against one another from the home field of the Bobcats.
