With four games remaining in the 2013 regular season schedule, the Quinnipiac softball team remains in contention for the fourth and final spot in the NEC Tournament. The Bobcats will be traveling to Robert Morris and St. Francis U this weekend with their eyes set on four victories combined with four losses from the Colonials. That is the scenario still in play for Quinnipiac as they hope some last season magic will lift them into the postseason for the fourth consecutive season. Currently 16-32 (8-8 NEC), the Bobcats will look to rely on their high-powered offense and hope to receive some dominate outings from their fully staffed pitching lineup heading into their first doubleheader of the weekend against Robert Morris.

Softball Takes on Future MAAC Foe Manhattan in Thursday Doubleheader for Final Home Games of 2013 Season

Thursday marks the final home games of the 2013 regular season for the Quinnipiac softball team as they will be taking on the Manhattan Jaspers in a future MAAC preview. With the Bobcats moving into the MAAC next season, the Jaspers will be one of the Bobcats’ conference foes to deal with in 2014 and beyond. Quinnipiac comes in with a 15-31 overall record and have built up a .500 mark in the NEC at 8-8. With four NEC games still left to play, there is still an outside chance the Bobcats will make the postseason. The team will need to sweep all four games remaining including two against Robert Morris, whom the Bobcats also need to lose all four remaining games in order to gain a playoff berth. Manhattan will serve as the final warm-up for the Bobcats heading into what could be the last weekend of the regular season.

St. on Saturday and Sunday. With an 8-4 mark in the NEC this season, Quinnipiac sits in fifth place behind LIU Brooklyn who holds the fourth and final playoff spot. The Blackbirds will finish their Northeast Conference slate this weekend as the Bobcats have four games in hand against them but every remaining game is vitally important with the Blackbirds owning a 11-5 conference record. The Bobcats need their offense to continue to produce while their pitching staff has shown improvement throughout the year and will need some big-time performances heading into the later stages of the schedule. Sunday's matchup against Central will also be Senior Day for the four Bobcat seniors on the roster including Alex Alba, Bridget Figmic, Kortney Kesses and Lauren Salgado.
