HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was named Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, March 5. The weekly accolade is Schwartzburg’s first of the 2012 season.
Schwartzburg picks up this week’s title after posting a 2-0 record at the USF Under Armour Invitational over the weekend. The Mission Viejo, Calif. native made three appearances in the circle and started in each contest she won, while pitching a total of 17.2 innings.
She pitched all seven innings in QU’s 1-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast and led the Bobcats in a 3-2 victory against Miami (Ohio) as she pitched a complete 10 innings. Schwartzburg only allowed six hits and struck out 18 batters at the USF Tournament. She also managed to maintain her 0.00 ERA and now stands at 4-0 on the year.
The Bobcats currently hold a 7-2 record and return to action at the UC Riverside Tournament on March 9-11. QU takes on Loyola Marymount in the first day of tournament action, Friday at 5 p.m.
