Quinnipiac Softball Defeats Maine, 1-0, At Under Armour Invitational
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Quinnipiac University softball team defeated
the University of Maine, 1-0, in its final game of the Under Armour
Invitational, Sunday. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 7-6 on
the year.
The Bobcats collected three hits and scored the only run of the
game in the top of the third inning. Quinnipiac loaded the bases as

Cabrera (Reno, Nev.), Jacqueline
Ristow (Seal Beach, Calif.), and Ashley
Heiberger (Sioux Falls, S.D.) each hit a single. Freshman Jordan
Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) was hit by a pitch, which allowed
Cabrera to score the game-winning run for the Bobcats.
Freshman pitcher Katie
Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) started and pitched four and 2/3
innings for the Bobcats, picking up the win. Quinnipiac
right-handed pitcher Heather
Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) pitched two and 1/3
innings, striking out six of the seven batters she faced.
The Bobcats return to action at the University of South Florida
when they compete in the Under Armour Showcase on March 11-13.
Quinnipiac will play UWGB, St. John's, St. Joe's, Ball State,
Maryland and the Netherlands National Team at the tournament.
