The Bulldogs struck first, scoring two runs each in the top of the first and second innings. Sophomore infielder Meg Johnson was credited with two RBI in the first inning, as she doubled to left center, scoring runners from first and second.
Sophomore Lexi Peacock scored the third run for the Bulldogs, crossing the plate when the batter was walked with the bases loaded. Fellow sophomore Chelsey Locarno scored Yale's fourth and final run when she scored unearned on a Christy Nelson groundout to the pitcher.
Allendorfer tallied her second homer of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning. The senior came to the plate with one out on the board with no runners on base and blasted the ball out to center field to put the Bobcats on the board. It was the 11th homerun of Allendorfer's career.
The Bobcats scored one more run in the top of the fifth inning, with junior Kim Brzezinski (Tinley Park, Ill.) jump-starting the inning with a single into left center. Julie Sini (Elgin, Tex.) entered the game to pinch-run for Brzezinski and Joelle Jacobsen (Flemington, N.J.) tapped a sacrifice bunt up the first base line to advance Sini to second in the following at bat. Sini advanced to third on a groundout by Lauren Salgado (Covina, Calif.) and was scored in the next play by Casella's single into right.
Junior Jaimie Iaquinto (Dix Hills, N.Y.) started from the circle for the Bobcats, striking out one in nine batters faced before senior Emily Bellush (Newton, Mass.) came in for relief. Bellush pitched 2.2 innings allowing just two hits in 13 batters faced before sophomore Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) entered to finish the game for Quinnipiac. Schwartzburg pitched three innings and struck out six batters to conclude the game.
