Quinnipiac gained the early lead, scoring its two runs in the top of the first inning. The Bobcats' first two batters, Angela Casella (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Lauren Salgado (Covina, Calif.) singled to gain runners in scoring position with no outs on the board. Wall stepped to the plate in the five-spot, driving a hit into right field to bring Casella and Salgado around to score. Freshman Jacqueline Ristow (Seal Beach, Calif.) and sophomore Alex Murray (Milford, Mass.) also picked up hits on the day for Quinnipiac.
Schwartzburg continued to excel from the circle for Quinnipiac. The sophomore picked up her second shutout of the weekend, striking out 13 batters through seven innings pitched. Schwartzburg gave up five hits throughout the game, never allowing more than one hit per inning for Jacksonville.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Mar. 17 in their 2010 home opener at the Quinnipiac Softball Field. The team will host the University of Connecticut at 3:30 p.m.
