HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's cross country head coach Carolyn Martin has announced the Bobcats' 2014 schedule. Quinnipiac's slate for the upcoming fall season will feature six meets leading up to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 31.
"We are really looking forward to the season, we have some great leadership heading into this year," Martin said. "Now that we know what to expect in the MAAC we have some great goals to go after this fall."
Quinnipiac will open the year at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 30. Last season, Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) and Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) finished first and second, respectively, as Quinnipiac finished second in the five-team field.
Quinnipiac follows its season-opener at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, R.I. In 2013, the men finished third out of seven behind a fourth-place finish by Copley. After a week off, the Bobcats will get a preview of the 2014 MAAC Championship course when they head to Holmdel Park in Holmdel, N.J. to run in the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.
The Bobcats head to Lehigh, Pa. on Oct. 4 to run in the Paul Short Invitational. In 2013, the men were once-again led by Mannion and Copley who finished in the top 20 to lead Quinnipiac to an 11th-place finish out of 46 competing teams.
Saturday, Oct. 11 sees Quinnipiac heading to Franklin Park for the New England Championships. For the men, Copley finished in 20th place out of 279 male runners to lead Quinnipiac to a 20th place finish.
The Bobcats wrap-up the regular-season at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. on Friday, Oct. 24.
