2012 Lehigh Paul Short Men's 8k Brown Race Results
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Quinnipiac men's cross country team put forth on of their strongest efforts of the season on Friday afternoon at the Lehigh Paul Short Men's 8k Brown Race as they placed 12th out of 33 collegiate teams. The Bobcats amassed 379 points on the afternoon while the University of Pennsylvania claimed first place with 47 points. Highlighting the Bobcat's effort was senior Richard Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) who placed 6th overall (out of 225 runners) with a blazing time of 25:23.
"I'm so proud of the men for the job they did today," Quinnipiac men's cross country head coach Carolyn Martin said. "They've come a long ways since the start of the season and now we are consistently putting together strong finishes each week, it only shows how much we are capable of if we can just keep the momentum going."
The 2008 NEC Outstanding Performer of the Year, Klauber successfully navigated his way around a massive group of runners to claim the top-10 finish and a new personal-best time as well. The dynamic duo of Klauber and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) put forth another strong showing and finishing first and second on the team for the third time in three races together this season. Copley put together a time of 25:55, landing him in 22nd-place in the overall results. His time is a new personal-best and his result was fourth best among all freshmen runners in the event.
Senior Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) came through third fastest on the team with a 97th-place result, crossing the finish line in 26:53. Sophomore Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) was not far behind Levene, finishing the race in 27:15 and 122nd-place. Freshman Daniel Fox (Johnsburg, Ill.) bested his previous season-best time of 27:41.5 at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race with 27:21 at the Lehigh Paul Short event.
The Bobcats are now in line for the New England Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on Sunday, Oct. 7. The men's sub varsity race will begin at 12:45 p.m. and varsity opens at 2:15 p.m.
