NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team placed fifth out of seven teams at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Friday afternoon. CCSU placed first with 27 points, while the Bobcats took fifth place with 119 total points. Quinnipiac also recognized its three graduating seniors at the meet.

“I thought the men’s race went really well today,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “We had a couple of athletes run personal records. I think it was a great way to get the team focused for next week’s conference meet.”

Freshman Thomas Dextradeur (Branford, Conn.) paced the Bobcats with a 15th place finish at 15:52, while junior Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) finished the 5k course in 18th place overall in 16:05. Senior John Healy (Middletown, N.J.) followed immediately in 19th place at 16:06, while junior Edgar Carrasco (Durham, Conn.) placed 32nd with a time of 16:27.

Junior Jacob Cetera (Chicago, Ill.) crossed the finish line in 35th place in 16:27, while sophomore Mike White (Worcester, Mass.) finished in 41st place at 17:16 and freshman Josh Wells (Shelton, Conn.) placed 43rd with a time of 17:18.

The Bobcats recognized their three graduating seniors following the meet, including seniors Dave Coppola (Reading, Mass.), John Healy (Middletown, N.J.) and John Beckshaw (Medford, Mass).

“The senior day ceremony was really nice,” said Martin. ‘We’re graduating two captains, and another great runner, who have all done a great job for us in the past four years. They’ll certainly be missed!”

Quinnipiac will compete at the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. The meet will be held by Monmouth University at Holmdel Park.
