Men's Cross Country Finishes Third of 11 Teams At CCSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University men's cross country team placed third in a field of 11 teams at the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park Saturday morning. Sophomore Richard Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) finished second overall in helping lead the Bobcats to third place with 81 team points on the 5K course. Klauber finished the race with a time of 15:11.82, just two seconds back of Providence College's Michael Anderson.

"The men had a great day," said head coach Carolyn Martin. "We raced like I know we could have all season. Now we have some confidence moving forward and heading into the conference championships next week."

Senior Tyler Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska) was the second Quinnipiac runner to cross line with a time of 15:29.52. Two-time Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) finished third for the Bobcats in 15:32.79, good for 13th overall. Junior John Greenlaw (Hampstead, N.H.) and freshman Jamie Glover (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished in 27th and 28th, respectively. Greenlaw crossed in 15:51.18, while Glover followed immediately behind in 15:51.31.

Providence placed first at the meet with 33 team points. The hosts from CCSU placed second overall, 10 points ahead of Quinnipiac with 71. Wagner and LIU rounded out the NEC competition in the meet as they finished in fifth and ninth places.

The Bobcats return to action next week when they host the 2009 Northeast Conference Championships in Hamden. The men will run on the 8K Quinnipiac Cross Country Course with the race scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
