HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University men's cross country freshman Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) was honored as the Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. This is the first time that Levene has been honored by the NEC as the first-year member of the Bobcats earned the weekly accolade after finishing sixth overall at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on Friday, Oct. 2.
Levene's time of 25:18 on the 8K course was the best of any runner from the NEC. His finish helped Quinnipiac to a sixth-place tie with Saint Francis (Pa.) in a field of 38 teams with each scoring 321 points. Levene has been the Bobcats' top runner in their last two races, placing eighth at the Quinnipiac University Invitational on Sept. 19. Levene's sixth-place finish came in a field of 332 runners.
The Bobcats will run again on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 12 p.m., at the New England Championships. The race will take place on the Franklin Park Course in Boston, Mass.
