NEW HAVEN, Conn. The Quinnipiac University men's track team wrapped up its weekend with the Yale Springtime Invitational at Dwyer Track. The Bobcats had run in the 115th Penn Relays from Thursday to Saturday in Philadelphia. Sunday's meet was highlighted for the Bobcats by senior Steve Pilch's (Medford Lakes, N.J.) performance in the 800-meter race. Pilch eclipsed the two-minute mark in the event for the first time this season, crossing the line in 1:59.23.
In the 400-meter race, two runners posted personal-best times. Senior Chris Foster (Mystic, Conn.) and sophomore Andrew Mayernick (Staatsburg, N.Y.) each finished the race with career marks. Mayernick ran a 52.72, while Foster posted a time of 52.83
The 4x400-meter relay team posted a season a season-best time of 3:39.62. Mayernick, Alex Mako (North Andover, Mass.), John Healy (Middletown, N.J.) and Frankie DiSomma (Sparta, N.J.) made up the four-man team that ran for Quinnipiac.
"This is a great final tune-up for the Northeast Conference Championships," said Head Coach Shawn Green. "There were some great performances out of this team today and I am particularly happy for Steve (Pilch)."
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, May 2 at the NEC Championships in West Long Branch, N.J. Monmouth is this year's host for the conference championship meet.
