Men's Indoor Track Runs At First Day Of New England Championships

BOSTON – The Quinnipiac University men's indoor track team competed in the opening day of the New England Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. Freshman Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) was the only individual Quinnipiac runner competing Friday night as he ran in the 5000-meter race. Klauber posted his second-best time in the event as he crossed in 15:03. That time was good enough for an 11th-place finish in a field of more than 30 runners.

The Bobcats' Distance Medley Relay Team finished 10 of 24 teams, crossing in 10:20. John Healy (Middletown, N.J.) ran the 1200-meter portion of the race in a split time of 3:10, while Jack McDonald (Cheshire, Conn.) ran the 1600 meters in 4:19. Senior Steve Pilch (Medford Lakes, N.J.) ran the 400 meters in: 51.9 and junior Brendan Amoruso (Northport, N.Y.) had a split time of 1:58 in the 800-meter leg of the race.

"I was very pleased with the DMR today," said Head Coach Shawn Green. "They all ran good split times in what was a very fast race."

Quinnipiac will run in two events on the second day of competition. Freshman John Beckshaw (Medford, Mass.) will represent the Bobcats in the 300 meters, while McDonald, Pilch, Chris Foster (Mystic, Conn.) and Sean Ramsey (Southbury, Conn.) will make up the 4x800-meter relay team.
