Men’s Tennis Suffers 4-3 Setback to Creighton University

ORLANDO, Fla. – Quinnipiac University gave Creighton University all it could handle in Tuesday's non-conference men's tennis match in Orlando. However, despite wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 5, the Bobcats suffered a tough 4-3 loss to the Bluejays in the second match of their annual Spring Break trip.

Quinnipiac fell behind early when it narrowly dropped the doubles point to the Jays. The Bobcats lost 8-6 at No. 1 and 3, and fell 8-7 at No. 2. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, Calif.) and Carlos Fernandez (Mexico City, Mexico) nearly upended Creighton's No. 2 pairing but lost in the tie-breaker, 7-1.

In singles, Quinnipiac earned straight-set victories at No. 2 and No. 5, and a three-set triumph at No. 3. Unfortunately, led by Creighton's all-time leader in career victories Billy Paluch, the Bluejays salvaged a split in the segment which clinched the 4-3 win.

Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) returned to his winning ways after a rare loss on Monday, defeating Elliott Baker, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2. Fernandez topped Harrison Lang, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5; and Patrick Sell (Neuenbuerg, Germany) battled back from one set down to defeat Jake Norman, 4-6, 6-4, 10-1 at No. 3.
