EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2014 Men's Tennis Preseason Poll on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, as voted on by the head coaches within the conference. Quinnipiac, who fell short in the Northeast Conference Semifinals a year ago, received 45 points in the preseason poll which was good enough for the third slot in the census.
Marist, who has won five of the last six MAAC titles, was unanimously selected as the preseason favorite with 64 points in the poll. The other newcomer to the MAAC, Monmouth, finished behind the Red Foxes with 48 points for second, followed by Quinnipiac (45), Fairfield (43), Niagara (39), Saint Peter's (21), Siena (20) and Rider (8).

The Bobcats are coming off of great fall season and are in prime position to garner a fifth Division I title this spring.
The Bobcats, who are led by 23rd-year head coach Mike Quitko, return a myriad of talent to the 2014 roster. 2013 All-NEC Second Teamer Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Sebastian Barbero (Buenos Aires, Argentina) will lead the young group this spring. The team consists of three sophomores and four freshman who will all make an impact this season. Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.), Alain Grullon (Santo Domingo, D.R.) and Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, N.J.) make up the sophomore class, while Kei Ezaka (Ojai, Calif.), Patrick Sell (Neuenbuerg, Germany), Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, N.Y.) and Carols Fernandez (Mexico City, Mexico) conclude the list of rookies.
The 2014 MAAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will take place at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey from April 26-27.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 with a road trip to Saint Joseph's and Delaware. The Bobcats take on the Hawks at 8:30 p.m. in Media, Pa. and then travel to Elkton, Md. for a tilt with the Blue Hens on Saturday at 6 p.m.
