LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team picked up its third seven-point sweep and second MAAC win of the 2013 fall season on Saturday afternoon, as the Bobcats defeated Rider University at the RU Tennis Courts in Lawrenceville, N.J. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 4-0 overall – matching their best start since the 2009-10 season.
Quinnipiac has been clicking on all cylinders of late, outscoring its opponents 27-1 through the first four matches of the season. Saturday was no different, as the Bobcats took all three matches in doubles and then swept through singles for the victory. In doubles, it was Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Patrick Sell (Neuenbuerg, Germany) teaming up for an 8-2 victory at No. 1; Sebastian Barbero (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Kei Ezaka (Ojai, Calif.) playing together with an 8-0 win at No. 2; and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, N.Y.) completing the sweep with an 8-0 victory at No. 3.
The Bobcats weren't through yet however, as Quinnipiac swept through the singles portion without surrendering a game in any of the six flights. Ezaka returned to his winning-ways by defeating Rollie Malfitano at No. 1; Sell collected his second straight, 6-0, 6-0, victory at No. 2; and Ambrosio earned his 74th career victory with a win at No. 3.
Barbero, Roser and Haraguchi saw identical results and three more Bobcat victories. Barbero defeated Sean Sweeney at No. 4; Roser defeated Kyle Stratton at No. 5; and Haraguchi topped Matthew Begley at No. 6.

The Bobcats return to the courts on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with the 2013 ITA Regional Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.
