Kei Ezaka and Ryoma Haraguchito to Join Men’s Tennis 2013-14 Roster

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's tennis head coach Mike Quitko has announced the addition of Kei Ezaka (Ojai, Calif.) and Ryoma Haraguchito (New York, N.Y.) to the 2013-14 Bobcats' tennis roster. Ezaka and Haraguchito have each signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Quinnipiac this fall and will suit up come September.

Ezaka brings a wealth of experience on both a national and international level to Quinnipiac's line-up. One of the best 2013 graduates in the Southwest Region, he is a four-star recruit and ranked 95th in the nation on Tennis Recruiting. He is also ranked within the top-25 of the Southwest Region; the top-15 in Southern California and top 400 within the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

"The addition of Kei will be a big boost for this year's team," said Quitko, who has 506 career wins at Quinnipiac. "He brings a lot of intensity on the court and will make an immediate impact in our starting line-up. Kei has national-level experience and is one of the best from Southern California."

Ezaka spent a lot of time at Weil Tennis Academy which offers a variety of services to international players looking to reach their full potential and achieve higher education through a tennis scholarship. He is a native of Aichi, Japan and plans to major in international business at Quinnipiac.

Haraguchito enjoyed a career at the New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, which is consistently described as one of the best schools in Manhattan. The New York native is a three-star recruit on Tennis Recruiting and climbed as high as No. 141 back in 2010. Haraguchito is ranked 18th among players from New York and 40th among players from the Middle Atlantic.

"We are very pleased to have Kei join our team this fall," said Quitko. "He is capable of making a big impact once he gets settled in as the year progresses. He is the caliber of player and person that we want in our program. Along with being a terrific player Ryoma is a great team player."

In its final season in the Northeast Conference, Quinnipiac posted a 4-2 record in conference play and earned the No. 3 seed in the 2013 NEC Tournament. The Bobcats defeated Monmouth 4-0 in the quarterfinals to advance to their 11th straight semifinals appearance. Their season came to a close with a tough loss to the eventual champion, Fairleigh Dickinson.

The Bobcats open the 2013-14 campaign on the road at the Stony Brook Invitational on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
