BRONX, N.Y. – Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) extended his unbeaten streak to nine straight matches (doubles and singles) on Tuesday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team fell just short to Atlantic 10 foe Fordham, 4-3, at the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts.
Quinnipiac split the singles segment, taking the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 flights, but dropped the doubles point which proved to be the difference. Ambrosio defeated Jan Krouham, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3; Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) topped Kuba Kowalski, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4; and Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) defeated Ben Kelly, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 5. Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) went toe-to-toe with Michael Puntillo at No. 6, but fell short in the final set, 6-4, granting Fordham its fourth point and the victory.
Ambrosio and Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) teamed up for their fourth straight win at doubles, defeating Puntillo and Peder Gram, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles. However, Fordham prevailed at No. 1 and No. 2 to take the match's first point.

Fordham improved to 7-10 overall, while Quinnipiac dropped to 6-11. Quinnipiac last defeated Fordham back in 2011 with a 7-0 victory in Hamden.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Saturday, April 13 with a Northeast Conference men's and women's tennis doubleheader against Saint Francis University. The teams will square off for a 9 a.m. tilt at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
