HAMDEN, Conn. – Two Bobcats advanced to the semifinals on Saturday evening, as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team continued play the 10th annual Quinnipiac Invitational at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts on Mount Carmel Campus. Freshman Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) and senior Devon Jerome (Stamford, Conn.) survived through the quarterfinals and will compete tomorrow morning.

In Flight "C" singles, freshman Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) defeated Hofstra's Joe Erichsen, 6-4, 6-1, in the opening round, and then outlasted Villanova's Max Levine, 7-6 (3), 6-1, in the quarterfinals. Roser will face Sacred Heart's John Lopresti in the semifinals tomorrow morning.

In Flight "D" singles, senior Devon Jerome (Stamford, Conn.) defeated Bentley's Evan Chomka (6-3, 6-3) in the opening round, and then topped Villanova's Mike Rosengren (6-4, 6-2) in the quarterfinals. Jerome will take on Bryant's Guilliamue Sabourin tomorrow morning.

In Flight "A" singles, sophomore Sebastian Barbero (Buenos Aires, Argentina) topped Villanova's Mark Miller (2-6, 6-3, (15-13)) in the opening round, before falling to UConn's Wei Lin in a heartbreaking conclusion. Barbero fell in the quarterfinals, 0-6, 6-4 (10-8).

Also advancing to the quarterfinals of Flight "D" were sophomores John Petrini (Stamford, Conn.) and Alain Grullon (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Petrini defeated Bentley's Alex DeMuth (6-3, 6-1), but then fell short to UConn's Mark HoSang (6-4, 6-4), while Grullon defeated Hartford's Luis Montes (6-7 (3), 6-3 (11-9)), but fell to Guilliamue Sabourin.

After an opening round loss in main draw, Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) bounced back and persevered through a challenging consolation bracket. Lazerowich defeated Sacred Heart's Kevin Budrauch (8-2) in the quarterfinals; Hofstra's Pedro Gimenez (9-7) in the semifinals and then topped Bryant's   Ernesto Arguello (8-2) in the championship match.   

The 2012 Quinnipiac Invitational wraps up tomorrow morning with all the action beginning at 9 a.m.
