EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) and junior Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) advanced to the championship match of Flight "D" Doubles on Friday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team competed in the opening day of the UConn Invitational at the East Hartford Racquet Club in East Hartford, Conn.

Playing for their first time together this season, Nelson and Morgenstern prevailed in back-to-back matches for a chance in the championship contest. The tandem defeated a pair from Merrimack, 8-5, and then advanced to the finals with an 8-3 win over Fairfield's Justin Ziccardi and Tyler Parks. Unfortunately, their run came to an end in the finals, falling short to UConn's Teddy Margules and Mark HoSang, 8-3.

The Bobcats picked up two more wins in the doubles segment, however were unable to advance through to the semifinals. In Flight "B" Doubles, sophomore Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) topped UConn's Peter Surovic and Joshua Palmer in the quarterfinals, but concluded their tournament run with an 8-5 loss in the semifinals.

In Flight "C" Doubles, senior Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) earned their first win when playing together. Lane and Roser knocked off Hartford's Luis Montes and Marco Neves, 8-4, but then fell to Bryant's Vidith Huot and Dana Parziale, 8-6, in the semifinals.
