KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Junior Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.Y.) and sophomore Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) spearheaded the charge for Quinnipiac University men's tennis on Tuesday afternoon, as the Bobcats handed NC Central a 5-2 loss at Poinciana High School in Kissimmee, Fla. Weeden and Nelson were perfect in competition, taking points in No. 1 and No. 6 singles, while winning in doubles' action as well.

With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 2-5 on the season, while the Eagles descend to 2-5. Success in the doubles' segment paced the Q, as the Bobcats took two out of the three matches. Weeden and Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) defeated Jack Waissen and Fabrice George, 8-6, which was then followed by another QU victory in No. 3. Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Nelson doubled up Tamina Kienka and Jamal Hoyte, 8-4, for the doubles' point.

The Bobcats withheld their momentum in singles' play, winning four out of the six individual match-ups. Weeden defeated Jack Waissen, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 1; James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) defeated Alejandro Espitia, 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2; Ben Shapiro (Katonah, N.Y.) defeated Tamina Kienka, 2-6, 6-4 (7), in No. 5; and Nelson capped off the segment with a victory (6-1, 6-1) over Jamal Hoyte.

John Petrini (Stamford, Conn.) and Lane filled the last two singles' spots for the Bobcats. Both fared well, but fell short in a tie-breaker.

The final match of the Spring Break trip will take place on Thursday night. QU takes on Bucknell at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
