PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team squared off against Binghamton University and Bryant on Saturday night, as the Bobcats took on the Bearcats and Bulldogs at a neutral site in non-conference showdowns. Playing at Brown University in Providence, R.I., Binghamton defeated QU, 7-0, in the 5:30 p.m match, which was followed by a doubles-only encounter with the NEC foe. The Bobcats prevailed 3-1 in the doubles session.
The Bearcats surrendered just two sets to the Bobcats in the singles segment. James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) and Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) boasted first-set triumphs in their match-ups, but couldn't fend off their opponents. Later in the evening, Quinnipiac bounced back in doubles action against the Bulldogs. The duos of Kwei and Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, Mass.), Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and Micah Bailey (Miami, Fla.) and John Petrini (Stamford, Conn.) and Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) were all triumphant in their match-ups. Kwei and Lazerowich finished 8-5, Weeden and Bailey won 9-8 (3) and Petrini and Ambrosio went 8-3.
