ITHICA, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team completed play in the ITA Regionals at the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University on Friday morning. The Bobcats revealed their talents against elite competition in the region.
"The ITA Regional Tournament is packed with some of the most gifted athletes in the area," says Head Coach Mike Quitko. "Our guys had some very strong showings against some very talented players."
In the Main Doubles' Draw, senior James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) and junior Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) took on Boston College's tandem of Billy Grokenberger and Akash Muppidi. The Eagles' duo claimed the match, 8-3, eliminating Kwei and Lazerowich from the bracket.
In the Main Singles' Draw, junior Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) represented Quinnipiac in the 31-32 match-up. Weeden was defeated by Will Reznek of Marist, 6-3, 6-1.
The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday, October 18th against the University of Connecticut at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
