WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team concluded play at the NEC Monmouth Invitational Sunday morning at the Outdoor Tennis Complex on the campus of Monmouth University. Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) and John Petrini each fared well in singles play, while Andrew Weeden (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Eric Ambrosio (Martinsville, N.J.) won their lone doubles match.
Morgenstern collected the first triumph of the Invite against David Sherwood of Monmouth University, 6-4, 6-3. Shortly after, Petrini defeated the Hawks for a second time, as he knocked off Tom Kowalski, 6-0, 6-4. In other singles action, Weeden, Ambrosio and juniors Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) and Ben Shapiro (Katonah, N.Y) were defeated (7-5, 6-1), (6-0, 6-0), (6-4, 6-1) and (6-0, 6-3) by Hawks' opponents.
In doubles action, the Bobcats compiled a 1-2 mark with Weeden and Ambrosio outlasting the Hawks' Kowalski and Stephen Suboleski, 9-7, in the victory.
The Bobcats conclude play in the NEC MU Invitational tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
