Men's Tennis Sweeps Hartford, 7-0

HAMDEN. Conn. - Five Bobcats earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated the University of Hartford, 7-0, Sunday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Indoor Tennis Courts. Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.), James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.), Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.), Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) and Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) each won at singles and doubles to push the Bobcats to 3-3 on the year. Hartford falls to 3-4 with the loss.

Weeden paired with Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) to blank Aneil Bhalla and Josh Isaacson, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles, before getting past Bhalla, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.

Kwei and Lazerowich breezed past Bogdan Nedelcu and Marco Neves, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles. Kwei then beat Neves, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, while Lazerowich outlasted Joel de los Santos, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 4.

Morgenstern and Nelson defeated de los Santos and Filip Miletic, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles. Nelson then beat Isaacson, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, while Morgenstern defeated Nedelcu, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 5 singles.

Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) also registered a No. 6 singles win, cruising past Edgardo Ureta, 6-1, 6-1.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, March 8, when they travel to Providence, R.I., to take on Brown. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
