Men's Tennis Wraps Up Play At UConn Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - The top Quinnipiac men's tennis doubles tandem of Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) fell in the Flight A Championship Match and sophomore Chris Nelson's (Scituate, Mass.) D Singles run ended with a runner-up finish as the Bobcats completed play at the UConn Invitational Saturday. Kwei and Mikkelson also won one singles match each for the Bobcats.

Mikkelson and Kwei fell to UConn's Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden, 8-6, in the Flight A Doubles Championship Match. Mikkelson then went on to defeat Sacred Heart's Chadd Sullo, 6-3, 6-4, in the Flight A singles first round, before falling to Hartford's Marco Neves, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4, in the quarterfinals. Kwei defeated Sacred Heart's Cole Conrad, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round, before falling to Warden, 7-5, 6-4, in the quarterfinals.

Nelson defeated Bucknell's Gregory Maxson (6-4, 7-6), Boston University's Alex Green (4-6, 6-1, 11-9) and UConn's Nic Visinski (6-3, 2-6, 10-7) en route to the championship match, where he fell, 6-0, 6-3, to UConn's Teddy Margules.

The Bobcats return to action Friday, Oct. 8, when they play host to the Quinnipiac Invitational.
