Men's Tennis Breezes Past Hartford, 7-0EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.), Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) all earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated Hartford, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 2-0 on the season.
Hughes and Weeden paired to win their No. 1 doubles match, before Hughes defeated Marco Neves, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Meanwhile, Weeden defeated Eric Floum, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4.
Feldman paired with Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) to win at No. 2 doubles, before beating Edgardo Ureta, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Freshman Justin Gerstl (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) combined on a No. 3 doubles victory, while Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) earned wins at No. 1 and 3 singles, respectively. Mikkelson beat Josh Isaacson, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Kwei took care of Aneill Bhalla, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3. Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) rounded out the Bobcats' victory with a 6-3, 6-4, win against Aaron Kooden at No. 6 singles.
The Bobcats return to action March 14, when they play host to Holy Cross. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
