Men's Tennis Signs Andrew Weeden To NLI

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach Mike Quitko has announced the signing of three-star recruit Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) to a National Letter of Intent. Weeden will join the Bobcats for the 2009-10 academic year.

"I've been watching Andrew play for over a year and am convinced that he will continue to get better during his career, as evidenced by his two wins over five-star recruits," said Quitko. "I believe Andrew will make an impact from his first day onward."

Weeden is currently ranked No. 21 by the USTA Boys' 18's Eastern Tennis Association. TennisRecruiting.net ranks Weeden No. 209 nationally, as well as No. 4 in New Jersey and No. 28 in the Middle Atlantic Region.

Weeden was the Somerset County Boys' High School Champion as a junior, and was named Courier News and Star-Ledger Boys' Tennis Player of the Year. He was a second-team all-state selection overall in singles, as well as a first-team all-state selection at second singles after finishing with a 28-1 record.
