Men's Tennis Defeats Hartford, 6-1

HAMDEN, Conn. – Eight Bobcats won a match as the Quinnipiac men's tennis team defeated the University of Hartford, 6-1, Sunday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-1.

Vinny Corvari (East Haven, Conn.) and Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2, but the Bobcats dropped the doubles point. Quinnipiac then rebounded to win all six singles flights.

John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) beat Ricky Dove, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, while Brian Mikkelson defeated Rich Lieberman, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2. Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) stretched his unbeaten streak in singles to five matches with a 6-0, 6-3, win against Aneil Bhalla at No. 3.

James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) won at No. 4, 6-4, 7-5, against Matt Seltzer, while Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) breezed past Aaron Kooden, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5. Tom Curran rounded things out with a 6-1, 6-4, win against Filip Miletic at No. 6.

The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Baltimore, Md., to take on UMBC. Matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
