Men's Tennis Competes At Connecticut State Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's tennis players Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.), Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and Zach Tuckman (Kinnelon, N.J.) won twice each in early-round action at the Connecticut State Championships, Friday and Saturday, at Yale. Feldman, Mikkelson and Tuckman won once each in singles and doubles action. Tom Curran (Fairfield, Conn.), John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.), James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) and Joe Nuara (Little Silver, N.J.) also picked up one win apiece.

Feldman scored a singles win against Sacred Heart's Chadd Sullo, 7-6, 4-6, 10-6, before teaming with Tuckman to defeat Connecticut's Matt Burns and Nic Visinski, 8-1. Tuckman earned his singles win against Hartford's Aaron Kooden, 6-1, 6-1.

Mikkelson defeated Burns in singles play, 6-1, 6-2, and paired with Hughes to take down Yale's Tom Santoro and Matt Schimmel, 8-4. Kwei earned his win in singles against Fairfield's George Laffey, 6-3, 6-0. Curran and Nuara teamed to defeat Hartford's Rich Lieberman and Matthew Seitzer, 8-4.
