Four Bobcats Advance To Final Day Of Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. – Juniors John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) won twice each in singles Saturday, while seniors Tom Curran (Fairfield, Conn.) and Joe Nuara (Little Silver, N.J.) earned a spot in the Quinnipiac Men's Tennis Invitational Flight B Doubles Championship. With their wins, Hughes and Feldman advance to the Flight A and C singles semifinals, respectively.

Hughes defeated Boston University's Jeff Chudacoff, 6-2, 6-4, before beating Sacred Heart's Chris Ujkic, 6-1, 6-2, to place himself among the top four players in the tournament. Feldman took care of Sacred Heart's Jacob Miller, 6-4, 6-1, in the first round before defeating Bryant's Nicholai Hill in the second, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the Flight C semifinals.

Curran and Nuara defeated Bucknell's Dan Bednarek and Clark Bogle, 8-4, in the Flight B Doubles semifinals to advance to Sunday's championship match against Connecticut's Dave Adams and Matt Burns.

Nuara, Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and Zach Tuckman (Kinnelon, N.J.) each won once in singles play Saturday.

Quinnipiac Invitational action concludes Sunday, with singles semifinal and championship matches and doubles championship matches to be played, starting at 9 a.m.
