Quinnipiac Athletics' 2013-14 Student-Athletes Complete Top Academic Year In Program History
Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics & Recreation Jack McDonald has announced all-time highs in several academic areas for the 2013-14 season. Quinnipiac’s 414 student-athletes posted a program best 3.293 cumulative grade-point-average, while all but one of Quinnipiac’s 21 varsity teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Senior Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) and junior Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) were named the Female and Male Athletes of the Year on Sunday evening, as the Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics and Recreation hosted its annual Awards Banquet at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden. Arguably the most dynamic forward in Quinnipiac men’s soccer history, Philip Suprise, has recently signed to play professionally with the Milwaukee Wave of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) showed the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Bobcat nation why he was selected as the league’s top goalkeeper on Friday night. The Spanish native scored on the first penalty kick and made the decisive save on the final one to propel the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team to a 7-6 victory over Iona College in a pivotal shootout in the MAAC Semifinals from Lessing Field. With the win, Quinnipiac advances to the MAAC Championship to face Monmouth on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.

Former Quinnipiac men’s soccer midfielder Robbie McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.) recently signed to play professionally with Waterford United F.C. in the First Division of the League of Ireland. McLarney made his debut this past weekend playing 70 minutes against English Premier League Side Crystal Palace F.C. The Blues are currently in third place in their division, five points behind the league-leader, Athlone Town.

The Quinnipiac University soccer programs' world-wide fundraiser for the town of Newtown enjoyed remarkable success as the Bobcats surpassed the $30,000 mark when the auction closed on Sunday, April 14 at 10 p.m. The Bobcats began their auction for #26 jerseys on March 14, 2013, which saw jerseys donated by soccer teams from around the world, to raise money for a scholarship fund in memory of Rachel Marie D'Avino - the cousin of former Quinnipiac captain, Lauren Carmody-Grenier '02.

Men's Soccer Falls In NEC Semifinals; Defeated By Saint Francis (Pa.) In Penalty Kicks, 4-3
The historic season of the Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team came to an unfortunate close on Friday afternoon, as the Bobcats suffered an unsettling loss in penalty kicks to Saint Francis (Pa.) in the NEC Semifinals at Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven, Conn. Senior Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wis.) kept the Bobcats’ hopes alive with an equalizing goal in the second half, but after a 1-1 draw through double overtime, penalty kicks were needed to determine a winner. The Red Flash outlasted the Bobcats, 4-3, in the shootout to earn the right to play on Sunday afternoon for the championship.

Men's Soccer Announces Class Of 2016
Quinnipiac men’s soccer head coach Eric Da Costa has announced the five members of the Class of 2016 that will join the Bobcats for the 2012 campaign. Defenders Stevenson Hawkey (Pennington, N.J.), Nick Lasweicz (Southbury, Conn.), Justin Kody (Northborough, Mass.) and Erik Panzer (Nelson, New Zealand), as well as goalkeeper Marc Meny (Philipsburg, N.J.) will be set to compete next year for the Quinnipiac squad.

Former Quinnipiac men’s soccer star Freddy Hall ’10 earned his first start for the Northampton Town F.C. On Sunday, the men’s and women’s soccer programs are supporting the efforts of Truong Nguyen ‘08, a former men’s soccer player now serving in the Peace Corps in Indonesia. Volunteers will be handing out information and accepting donations to help Truong as he works with his village in East Java, Indonesia to build a multipurpose (soccer and basketball) athletic court. The purpose of an athletic court is to give students a safe place to participate in sports and build confidence and pride within the community.

Men's Soccer Hosts Final Games Of The 2010 Season Against Central Connecticut And Monmouth
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team hosts its final two Northeast Conference regular season games this weekend on #$%^Friday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. against Central Connecticut State University and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. against Monmouth University. #$%^Prior to Sunday's match, Quinnipiac's eight seniors will be honored in a rose ceremony, as it will be their final game in a #$%^Quinnipiac uniform.
