HAMDEN, Conn. – Former Quinnipiac men's soccer standout Philip Suprise continues to make strides in his young professional career, recently adding to his list of accomplishments. U.S. Futsal Men's National Team head coach Keith Tozer named his squad for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Newcastle, England, and Suprise was among the 14-player roster that will be making the trip.
The American team, which will travel to the annual international championship from June 5 to 8 in Newcastle, England, is ranked 34th in the world. After that, the squad gears up for a pair of friendly matches against France in Suprise's hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. France checks in at No. 39.
A few months back, Suprise finished up his first full season with the Milwaukee Wave. The Wave posted a 16-4 record and claimed second place in the league standings. Suprise finished with 11 points in 10 games, scoring three goals and assisting on five others. He signed an extension with the club at season's end.
Prior to playing professionally, Suprise wrapped up a stellar four-year career with the Bobcats, after leading the team to its first regular season championship in program history in 2012. Suprise finished with nine goals and two assists for a team-best 20 points in that season. He ranked amongst the conference leaders in several categories, including goals, goals per game, points, and points per game. Suprise also earned his second consecutive trip to the Northeast Conference First-Team and fourth career conference accolade.
The Americans will train in Milwaukee before heading to England, where they'll face Qatar on June 5, Cyprus on June 6 and England on June 8 as they attempt to repeat as champions. The U.S. went 3-0 at the Four Nations tournament last year.
