HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer senior Simon Hinde (Canberra, Australia) was named to the College Sports Madness Men's Soccer MAAC Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 by the website. College Sports Madness identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each week.
Midfielder Simon Hinde was Quinnipiac's savior over the weekend, as the senior co-captain erased a 1-0 deficit in the 86th minute with his third goal of the season. With the Leopard goalkeeper out of position, Hinde received a pass from Machel Baker and placed a shot towards goal. In a last-ditch effort to preserve the shutout, a Lafayette defender sprinted after the ball in attempt to clear – but couldn't keep the ball from crossing the line - leaving a 1-1 deadlock.
Hinde has a goal in each of Quinnipiac's first three matches, boasting a 0-1-2 record through its three-game season-opening road trip. Hinde leads the team with six points thus far.
The Bobcats are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with their 2013 home-opener from the QU Soccer Field. Quinnipiac welcomes Loyola (Md.) to Hamden for a 4 p.m. start.
