MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Three first half goals from the Quinnipiac University men's soccer team proved to be more than enough on Sunday morning, as the Bobcats ran past Robert Morris, 3-1, and into the Northeast Conference Tournament. For the second time in three games, the offense came at the strength of three different players with freshman Erik Panzer (Nelson, New Zealand), senior William Daniels (Clackamas, Ore.) and sophomore Ola Ogunjobi (London, England) each picking up two points in the NEC match-up.

The win temporarily grants Quinnipiac a share of first place, moving into a two-way tie with CCSU for the time-being. The Bobcats, now 8-5-2 overall, improve to 6-1-1 in the league, a mere one point ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson who played at Bryant this afternoon.

The Bobcat offense picked up right where they left off on Friday afternoon, grabbing a two-goal lead just 15 minutes into the game. Senior Robbie McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.) created the first goal with a low, hard cross into the middle of the penalty area where Panzer did the rest. Panzer's one-time strike snuck just inside the right post for 1-0 lead after a scanty seven minutes of play. The New Zealand native now has two goals in his last three games, giving him five points in his short time at Quinnipiac.

Some eight minutes later, the visiting Bobcats added to their lead in the 15th minute, again coming from cross to the middle of the penalty area. Senior William Cavallo (Londonderry, N.H.) tracked down a ball on the wing and sent it into the box where Daniels found himself in perfect position. Daniels' fifth goal of the season gave the Bobcats some breathing room with a 2-0 advantage.

The hosting Colonials got one back on a penalty kick in the 27th minute, but their momentum was short-lived when QU struck again. Sophomore Michel Baker (Spanish Town, Jamaica) dispossessed an RMU defender on the left side of the field and whipped a ball to the top of the 18-yard box. Ogunjobi collected the pass, took a touch and ripped a blast into the lower-right hand corner of the net for a 3-1 lead.

This time, behind the stellar play of Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain) and his backline, the Bobcat two-goal advantage would hold up en route to a fourth straight victory. Angoitia made six saves in the match, which in-turn lowered his goals against average (1.23) and increased his save percentage (.782) for the season. Furthermore, Quinnipiac has now outscored its opponents 10-1 over the last four games.

The Bobcats win in Moon Township was just their second in the team's last eight encounters at Joe Walton Stadium. QU improves to 3-6-6 in the all-time series with RMU.

In prime position to potentially host the NEC Tournament, Quinnipiac will need two strong results in the final weekend of competition. The Bobcats welcome CCSU, who is ineligible for the NEC Tournament, on Friday and FDU on Sunday.
