Philip Suprise Named adidas/NEC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer junior forward Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wisc.) has been named adidas/Northeast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday, Oct. 10.
Suprise had an impressive weekend, netting a goal against both Saint Francis (Pa.) and Robert Morris on Friday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 9. In Friday's 2-1 overtime win against Saint Francis (Pa.), Suprise scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the game on a rocket from just outside the goalkeeper's box. The junior placed the ball in the far side of the net to tie the score at one apiece in the 25th minute of play.
On Sunday against Robert Morris, Suprise once again displayed his outside range, this time from the opposite side of the goalkeeper's box. In the 41st minute of play, Suprise hit the ball with the outside of his right foot, bending the ball into the far right-hand side of the net to tie the score, 1-1. Suprise continued to pressure the Colonials defense and drew the crucial penalty in the goalkeeper's box in the 79th minute of play, which led to the game-winning goal for Quinnipiac.
The Milwaukee, Wisc. native now leads the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Within the NEC, Suprise currently ranks third in points per game (1.11) and sixth in goals per game (.33). This marks Suprise's first-ever Player of the Week honors.
The Bobcats take their unblemished 3-0 NEC record (5-4 overall) on the road when face Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 5 p.m.
